September 11th Sunday evening 730 ish The three of us sampled the 7 appetizers on the menu. Caesar dressing amazing. "epic" And fresh, local. Nothing weird. A great reservation to look forward to, a must.

I had been to The Tavern in past years. This year was a wonderful suprise. The new chef has made quite a difference. The food well prepared, served promptly, hot and very good. Except I liked Jena's version of the sundae much better. Chilmark is still a dry town. However, I find the corkage fee rather pricey.....$14.00 for your own... More

We joined friends who live out near this location and we had never been to the restaurant since we don't live nearby on the island. Two of our party had steaks which looked to be outstanding and plenty to eat. My wife is a vegetarian and her meal was very good. I had the black sea bass which was excellent.... More

I enjoy eating here, and have done so at least a half-dozen times. The food is at worst competent, and at times great (I'm a sucker for a great bluefish pate, and theirs is light and fluffy). Scallops are great, as is fluke with razor clam sauce. Best of all it's BYOB (thanks Town of Chilmark!). That means the food... More

The sound level is the only thing that needs improvement at The Chilmark Tavern. The food is superb; innovative without being odd-just-for-the-sake-of-being-odd. The scallops, for example, were perfectly cooked; green salad and bluefish pate also were excellent. When the restaurant is full, however, the noise level is unpleasant. You shouldn't have to shout to be heard by your dining partner.... More

We decided to have a nice dinner out toward the end of our stay on the island, so off we went to the Chilmark Tavern. First of all, this is a dry town and there is no tavern here, the restaurant is listed as a BYOB. This is displayed prominently on their menu; we checked this before leaving. We brought... More

In my opinion, not really worth the drive if you are staying at Edgartown, where you are spoilt for choice and not BYOB. The food was OK but not cheap, the dining area noisy and the service was efficient enough but nowhere near as friendly and interested as we have become used to in the States.

Lovely restaurant that is serious about fresh and local food. Small menu but something for everyone. BYOB Great place to put on that Lilly sundress and not look like you're a tourist so much

Any good trip to The Vineyard is essentially a combination of beach visits and fine dining. We always try to mix it up and try out some places we haven't visited before, along with return trips to our old favorites. Our much-anticipated first visit to Chilmark Tavern left every member of our party shaking their heads in disbelief, and wondering... More

Fantastic dinner last night. The warm buzz at the bar was the perfect counterpoint to the chilly, overcast evening. The food was fantastic, service cheerful, efficient, polite and relaxed. The season just started and they already out of the gate with an explosively good formula...food, bar, service and atmosphere click perfectly. So great. Thank you.
