This restaurant actually surprised me. I didn't think the food would be that good by the way it look. I ordered middle number 5 and I loved it!! I recommend it.

It's been a long time since we had Burmese food, and this place fell a bit short of my recollections. I liked this place but did not love it. The portions are pretty small, but the prices are on the low side for dinner. I would recommend avoiding the "coconut milk based ice cream" -- it has a lot of... More
This place was highly recommended by a vegetarian friend as having great food and reasonable prices. Correct on both counts! Meat lovers will also be happy. A standout dish: the LetThoke Sone was a thing of beauty with glass noodles, onion and tofu. Amazing texture and taste. Eggplant curry also very good, but I was warned not to get it... More
Whenever I want to eat Vegetarian, this is one of my go to places. Tasty blend, and they will make it as spicy as you want.
Excellent Burmese restaurant. Family owned and operated. Can eat in or take out. Friendly atmosphere. Has its own small parking lot, and public parking is nearby.
Burmese restaurants are relatively rare, so we always look for them when traveling. Had dinner on Saturday night with friends. Make reservations, it was crowded on Saturday night. Casual, friendly, unpretentious ambiance. Waitstaff was friendly, gave suggestions. Food came quickly, correctly spiced, at correct temperatures. Our party of 5 enjoyed the green tea leaf salad, and a variety of entrees,... More
I've been to Mandalay Bay many time and it never fails. Jan 21, 2017 two out-of-town guests and I had a delightful meal. We enjoyed a drink in the bar (it was jammed as it was a busy weekend). The staff were efficient and honest about a short wait. We got appretizers and chatted. I always get one of the... More
Don't let its simple outside look deter you. This is the my favorite restaurant in all Silver Spring, hands down. Food is consistently great, service is friendly. You will not go wrong with any dish. Go for it, enjoy some delicious food, and learn a bit about Myanmar while you are at it.
The uniqueness of the menu --with the tea leaf salad, mixed rice salads, lentils and curries, plus the coconut (vegan) ice for dessert make this one of my favorite DC stops--just over the DC line in Silver Spring. Family run,
Along Bonifant St., closer to Fenton than to Georgia, Mandalay is by now an established institution among families in/near downtown Silver Spring. The food is always decent without being terrific. Prices are moderate (certainly not cheap: our takeout of two main courses with no tip and no drinks was over $30). We used to favor N1 (first cold noodle dish... More
