Super cool spot right by the river but expect to pay some $$ to get a good meal for the homies. Sick old school building.

The ambience and service was outstanding even though we almost ended up at a jury-rigged table by the door (Didn't know you could reserve particular tables-- and it was our first time there.) The bartender was great as was our waiter who nicely pointed out substitutions for our gluten-intolerent party-member. Tuna special was a bit dry even though "rare." Short... More

Don't have a lot of time, so here are some brief comments ... Pros: An outstanding property with incredible ambiance. Love being at OAI. Really liked the servers who were very nice and engaging. They corrected an entree problem with NO hesitation, a smile and only a request for what the problem was so the chef could be informed. Appetizers... More

If you want rustic charm this is your place. We enjoyed the ambiance and service was very good. Food was over priced and uninspiring....menu was boring. My seafood pasta was not really good...not enough seafood for the price and the pasta was over cooked. Doubtful I will return.....they do have outdoor seating with heaters so maybe return for drinks but... More

Our mouthes were watering during our entire BillyGoat Trail hike located just across the street from this establishment. The smell of wood fire and the signage for burgers and fries gave us motivation to finish the hike. When we finally got to the Old Angler's, we waited forever to even be greeted by the hostess, finally got seated - without... More

Three of us had a celebratory delicious dinner earlier tonight. Food was very good, ambiance was excellence and service was adequate. We would happily go back.

Old Anglers is set along the C&O Canal in Maryland about 18 miles and 25 minutes from downtown DC -- lovely spot. Our first experiences were in the 1980s, often in conjunction with a day spent in the outdoors or fun gatherings in colder weather around the fireplace. But we hadn't been there for at least a decade and wanted... More

Went to this restaurant after hiking the Billy Goat. What a great reward! We did the prix fix $30 for two courses. My husband and I chose the beet salad, which was refreshing and delicious as a first course. I got the tuna salad and my husband got the burger. Tuna salad was pretty average, but the burger made my... More

Was a very pleasant experience. We were enjoying the patio and they ushered us in before the rain hit. Excellent duck and swordfish entrees.

Intimate and romantic. Great service by Francois. Monday night seating on the first floor with the fireplace is picture perfect.

Description
A most charming dining spot, the Old Angler's Inn has been immortalized in countless Washington D.C. novels as a romantic winter getaway, sitting before the fireplace and perusing the menu. It is equally glorious in the summer when the main action moves to the incomparable terrace.
