We had not been to Macky's in about ten years. We typically go to Fish Tales, Fager's Island, Coconuts Beach Bar. We decided to give Macky's another try, we had pleasant memories of it and wanted something outside our annual vacation routine. The food for...me was average, I had the crab stuffed shrimp - it was a little overseasoned, which is saying something because I love heavily seasoned food. The shrimp were tiny and a little overcooked. The crab had five or six rather large (5-10mm) pieces of shell in it. I'm not sure if they purchase their crab meat already out of the shell, or get live crabs and dig it out themselves, whichever the case they either need to change vendors or train their employees a little better. The meal was spent being cautious instead of simply worry free enjoyment. One of the biggest vacation killers ever is a broken tooth while you're away from home. I didn't really eat the rest of the meal, but the veggies and rice were fine. To be fair the rest of my party had either their mahi mahi special, or their Atlantic salmon special, and seemed happier. Which is good, just disappointing that a staple on their menu clearly was just slapped together without as much care. The flimsy chairs on the beach are a little disappointing. It'd be nice if they invested in real furniture. If you go to Fager's Island you get big, heavy wooden chairs on their beach bar, next to gas fire pits! The tiny legs dig several inches into the sand and make it a challenge to get a comfortable height so you can eat at the table. Or the back legs dig in and the front ones don't and you feel like you're going to fall backwards. Either way, you end up sitting actively balancing your weight for an hour, resulting in burning/aching muscles and an inability to relax, which is what you want to do when you're enjoying a bayside sunset. The watercraft rental place next door stores vehicles just off of the little beach bar, really ruining any photos you may want to take. Those weren't there the last time. Ok, biggest concern - the dogs. I actually went back to their webpage and used CTRL-F to search for the word "dog" because there were SO MANY of them a the tables around the restaurant. I've since noticed the reviews here actually mention them several times, but I don't see anything about it on the website. Regardless, they need to revisit their policy of being pet friendly. My child is allergic to dogs, so it was just one more thing we had to worry about while there. Our waitress was stopping to pet the dogs every time they walked by. You had to actively avoid tripping over them and their leashes because their owners didn't give a rip who else was impacted by their presence. I've messaged with the ownership in years past about possibly hosting large family dinners there, and while they didn't work out, they were INCREDIBLY nice. So I really wanted to give them some business and enjoy it. Additionally, the waitress we had from Salisbury was an absolute delight. But, in the end we spent a lot of money and were just uncomfortable the entire time and in a hurry to get out of there, we didn't even make it to sunset. I recommend Fish Tales or Fager's Island. Fish Tales has better drinks, a huge kid play area, you get to watch the boats come in from fishing (which is way better than the party crows that rent watercraft next to Mackey's), and their food is slightly better. Fager's Island just has better sunset experiences. They play the 1812 overture, have really good food (especially the fine dining area), have a much more lively environment, and their little beach bar area with fire pits is awesome.More

Arrived for a breezy star-lit, open sky, late night dinner for two...all of a sudden, during our salads, the wind picked up. We could see lightning on the distant horizon, and the bay waves furiously licked the sand's edge. Very exciting and invigorating. It was...especially entertaining to watch the staff and patrons scramble to keep food, beverages, and napkins on the tables! I personally lost a few lettuce leaves off my fork! We were chasing napkins, too! What was expected to be a laid back, romantic kind of evening, turned into a hilarious night out. We really had fun. Oh, and the food was great. I had a garden salad with a lemon dressing, and the beer battered rockfish fingers fried golden brown, with old bay tartar sauce (YUM!) and husband had the Stuffed Flounder. Very good food, very good service with a smile! The Mango Macky and the Dirty Banana were delicious concoctions!More

Sat right on the beach but people next to us had two big dogs that kept coming to our table. The hostess and server kept petting the dogs and hair flew into our food and drinks. Picture of dog hair on my drink is below....Will ever return.More

In the pandemic era, my family & I ordered takeout dinner. We were not disappointed; the food was delish. Our only disappointment was that we chose not to sit outside, facing the bay at sunset, as we have done each of the previous several summers....It’s a magnificent spot for a summer meal, with customarily friendly and attentive wait staff.More

We were in Ocean City for 3 days. This was the only place that we saw staff enforce the masks. We had a party of 6 . We all had different dishes, and we loved our choices. Staff was polite and fast. Great view of...the water from inside and out. Looks like they had docking for those coming by boat.More

Unlike many restaurants with very limited Covid menus, Macky’s still had what appeared to be a full menu. We liked the ribs and shrimp we ordered. We were glad to be dining outdoors and sufficiently far from other groups to feel comfortable without masks. The...drinks were small but good and it’s fun to watch the wave runner rentals go past as they head to play in the bay. It’s good food in a great setting if you’re being Covid cautious as we are. Service was quite good too, especially given the tough circumstances. Food came out quickly and all dishes were fresh and hot. I will be back next time in OC.More

We dined here on a Sunday evening in June. We called ahead but they don't take reservations (Covid era) but said the wait was 10 mins so we walked over from our condo. We asked for outside but that was 45 min wait so we...settled for an inside but against a window table. There were mask signs everywhere and the servers all wore masks. Some patrons did forgot to put theirs back on during their walk to washroom and/or during exiting. The tables were set apart for social distancing. Our Steamed Clams appy was delicious and my wife enjoyed her Crab Cake. My Texas BBQ Ribs came out cold and our server apologized and gladly sent it back to the kitchen for reheating. It was good the 2nd time round. Good atmosphere, Covid conscience and good food.More

I can’t say about cross contamination, but my wife has Celiac disease and is extremely sensitive to gluten. She had the Three Way Sauté. It was excellent and she had no issues.
