We stop for lunch fairly often in Chestertown and for some reason have always overlooked this restaurant. Had Bloody Mary's out front before (very good) but never considered it for a meal. Thought it would be too expensive perhaps? Saw the article in "Coastal Living"...More

We drove about 1.5 hours to Sunday brunch buffet on a recommendation. The towne is so quaint! The historic hotel in which "The Kitchen at the Imperial" is housed is lovely. Honestly, I was a bit surprised at the price relative to the food. It...More

Excellent food, tastefully prepared, lunches have more modestly priced entrees but for lunch or dinner hard to beat the Imperial.

This was our fourth time dining at The Imperial. Their service and food have always been superior. It is a small and rather romantic setting in downtown Chestertown. Reservations are recommended. Somewhat limited menu. Excellent meal.

We had brunch buffet and it was excellent. Raw Oysters, and almost everything you could think of. The staff was excellent and very friendly, but gave you space. Fantastic Bloody Mary Bar.

So glad you enjoyed the buffet. We try hard to keep it fresh, but the oysters are there to stay. Steve

David, thanks for the review. Glad you like the service and atmosphere, we worked really hard on both. Yes, Rob is fantastic! I do have to throw the penalty flag on the expensive comment however. Not only are my prices comparable to other restaurants you...More

Very well prepared lite fare. I like to eat outside at a table and take in the view on downtown. Dinner inside is also good. I had brunch once - very nice. In an old hotel next to the theater. Two blocks from the river....More

I had an excellent meal with co-workers. I tasted the Pan fried oysters and crab dip for apps - both delicious. For a main course, 16oz Rib Eye cooked to perfection and very flavorful. Washed it down with the highly recommended chocolate bread pudding -...More

I'd like to address this to Steve, As the wife of a small business owner, I know the importance of mea culpa when you've missed the mark. It happens, and it takes a big person to own it. Thank you for your response. It makes us willing to try you again when we are in the area. I would be happy to acknowledge this on Trip Adviser if you know how to make that happen. Diane Betz

Diane, no one likes to hear bad things, but when they happen, as business people, we need to know. As I am sure it is with you, I can't be everywhere, but I can fix it if I know about it. As far as trip advisor, why don't... More

Hi Stephen, No you don't unless it is a big party. If you are 6 or more, I would say get reservations just to be on the safe side. Steve The Kitchen (410) 778-5000 Ext. 1
