The menu is divided into 4 parts, one for each region of India. I enjoyed dishes from 3 regions plus delicious desert! I was impressed by the service staff. He advised me NOT to get one more dish because it was a bit "too close" to one I had already ordered. The end result was that the portions were generous.

From the moment you open the door your senses are on alert. The aroma of the delicious food, the authentic music and wonderful decor make for a lovely and relaxed evening. We were never rushed, service was excellent, do not miss dessert.

Delicious food...beautifully presented....upscale atmosphere. Menu is divided according to regions -- a plus for those who like or want to try the cuisine of a particular area. My daughter and I shared a samosa served on a bed of chickpeas. Both the presentation and the samosa itself were wonderful. My husband had the brunch special and I ordered a chicken... More

I dine at Passage to India several times a year. The service is extremely attentive, and the food is always excellent. In particular, I recommend the Samosa Chaat, and the spicy Goan fish.

I don't know why I don't come here more often. Stopped for lunch and had the shrimp curry. I could drink a gallon of the creamy tomato curry sauce. The black lentils are delicious and the naan was nice and warm - perfect to sop up the lentils and curry. Their rice pudding is amazing too - I especially love... More

Among the many Indian restaurants that have cropped up in the region, this place is the most formal in ambiance, with special decorative features, most likely imported from India. Just the front door itself is quite unique. The food is also better than average. Dinner begins with a serving of thin wafers served with three small pots of dip. I... More

We went as a family ( 4 of us) to try this restaurant. Our son who lives in Bethesda had been before and recommended it. We all had different food and each meal was excellent. There were different meats, different levels of spice in each meal and all the food was very tasty and well cooked. We will certainly be... More

Had a great feed here. There were 6 folk, a business meeting. There was a diverse menu - plenty of vegetarian options - good service. We had a bottle of red which wasn't too bad. Prices seemed OK, not cheap but not bad. Overall a good experience. Quiet so easy to speak. The Indian music they did have wasn't intrusive.

As locals, we keep coming back here because we know that we can expect good service and management. We like to explore different Indian cuisines, and this place allows us to travel east, north, south or west. We've lived in Bangladesh, and can vouch for the east cuisine here as authentic. We've traveled to Northern India and feel that the... More

We ordered the garlic naan, the salmon and shalgam goat.. The goat was bone-in so the flavor was extremely fragrant. The salmon was crunchy on the outside and soft well cooked on the inside.. Better than what I could have done at home infused with flavors.. The garlic naan was as good as I remember.. The service was excellent.. A... More

Passage to India brings the so far unheard of regional Indian specialties to this city. Passage to India is beyond just an Indian restaurant - the dishes you eat are traditional recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation in kitchens - both, royal and domestic. The kitchen prepares all food to order thereby preserving the aromas of freshly ground spices and herbs. Having worked professionally for world class hotels in India, Chef Sudhir Seth brings a rich knowledge of dishes and recipes to fore.
