We went to breakfast at Golden Rod. The food was sufficient. It is a family restaurant so bringing the kids is ideal. It also has a gift shop/taffey shop. They sometimes show how they make the taffey which is fun to watch.

We stopped in for ice cream on a rainy evening. With very few people inside, service was very slow and staff stood around talking to each other. Ice cream was average.

Meal was so so, coffee was the worst, and $3.00 a cup. The candy however was absolutely fantastic, so were the coconut macaroons.

This is one of the most wonderful candy stores in the north east! You can watch the salt water taffy being made in the window. The chocolates are delicious and packaged in the old fashioned way - in paper cups and flat in paper bags....More

Way overpriced and very small portion sizes. Nice atmosphere but also service was lousy. It is end of season but that is no excuse.

We ate at the Goldenrod over Labor Day weekend, which was crazy busy as is to be expected! Despite the heavy flow of people, we had excellent and efficient service for our party of six. The house made raspberry iced tea is to die for;...More

Usually like a days-gone-by place, but you can skip this one, especially if you prefer a warmer restaurant. We froze our "xxx" off in this place. Food was decent, if a bit lack-luster. Guess the term "Luncheonette" says it all. Prices weren't bad, but overall...More

The Goldenrod never disappoints us. The food is excellent and the service is above excellent. Some of the other restaurants we visited should send their staff to goldenrod to see how to provide exceptional customer service. Always a treat to stop there.

We stopped in for a snack when we travelled through town and got sucked right into the past! So sweet and old fashioned. It was so much fun perusing the candy counter and then the ice cream bar. We had excellent ice cream and found...More

Great service, lobster roll was full and fresh. Taffy pulling was fun to watch. Friendly staff! Inexpensive and good!!

I sent them a Facebook message, and this is their reply: "We are seasonal. We close on Columbus Day, October 10, 2016."

I would not know that kind of info about the Goldenrod and it's employees. I have just had several encounters as a customer. Sorry.

Their sister restaurant The Lobster Cove is open all year. The hours and days are limited, so call ahead. Also try the Fisherman's Dock on Rt 1. Food is better and hours were more predictable last I checked.
