Tried the Seafood Stew and went back for seconds another day. Absolutely delicious. More than likely 1st stop to eat once we arrive in Maine. Fish tacos anyone? :0)

Maine is obviously known for its seafood and especially its Lobster. Billy's Chowder House is one of those places that if you believed only a restaurant with crystal chandeliers could be good enough for you, you are dead wrong. In my humble opinion, if you want the freshest, best tasting seafood, cooked to absolute perfection, smash those chandelier thoughts and... More

In New England one has a certain expectation for a "chowder house" - something between a clam shack and a regular restaurant. Nothing fancy - lots of knotty pine paneling and simple furnishings. The food was good, the service friendly, the prices reasonable, and plenty of parking. Overall, this was an experience that met expectations.

Went for the first time. Food was delicious, and our waitress Cindy (Lu Who) made our visit so memorable. She was so friendly and welcoming. Explained the rewards program and provided excellent food recommendations. Easily convinced us to have dessert. We will absolutely come back! Especially to see Cindy!!

Food is not that good. Very cold in the restaurant. Overpriced. Not sure what they hype is. Locals do not go to Billy's Chowder House, when you don't see local people eating there - not good

Stopped in for lunch during an unusual visit to Maine in January. Our table afforded us a beautiful view of the tidal river while we were toasty warm inside. We started with light and perfectly cooked fried calamari and dad said his haddock chowder was loaded with fish and delish. Our haddock sandwiches were HUGE and served on buttery grilled... More

We were here for lunch on a cold blustery Sunday with a table near the fire place, perfect. Our chowder was buttery, full of clams and the best we have ever had. If you like thick creamy chowder-stay away-this is made the way it should be. In addition our lobster rolls were some of the best we've had, not too... More

A delighful New England chowder inn overlooking the salt marsh - comfortable atmosphere; Asked waitress which chowder she'd recommend, she instantly said "Lobster stew"...oh my, so fantastic! ha. Had a bowl of that...and shared bacon wrapped scallops. What a super lunch, can't wait to return!
