Diners and dives did not lie ! Ate there twice while visiting in wells this week with friends, lunch for lobster rolls was fantastic! Indian pudding was interesting. Went after church and was not as good. The cod cake benedicts were too salty and eggs overlooked . Hash was ok. The pancakes were good but you had to pay extra... More

Friendly and fun, we were made to feel like we were locals by the owner right away. They had a table for us quickly and the food came soon after. Crab cake sandwich was great, and the clam chowder had the right consistency. Remember to specify if you want clam or fish chowder. They have both.

This was our second visit to the Maine Diner in 2 years. We had the special of the day; lobster pie, chowder was outstanding. The lobster pie was swimming in too much butter this time so the topping was not crusty at all. I got a good baked potato, fresh steamed green beans (good) and coleslaw. My dessert was apple... eggs, pancakes, bacon, all the breakfast regulars are here, affordable prices, nice waitstaff, was only here for breakfast so I didn't get to try any of the things they were on Diners Drive-ins and Dives for but they did well with breakfast, my wife loved that they do a breakfast that is pretty much "one of everything" i think it... Stopped by the Maine Diner for breakfast - it was excellent as always. Since is was nearly 10AM and we were meeting friends for lunch at 1PM, we went light with breakfast sandwiches which consisted of a fried egg, ham with cheese on your choice of bread. My wife had the English muffin and I had the toasted plain bagel.... More

We like the Maine Diner for breakfast food, but lately the other meals are just so-so. And they cram so many people in such a small space that the atmosphere is not pleasant. I don't care to sit at a table right next to a busing station, kind of gross. They are coasting on their reputation.

My friends recommended and raved and so we had to go. We had a 40 minute wait for our table which we discovered is about average any where you go. My husband ordered the clam chowder and I ordered the seafood chowder...we ended up switching...both ok. My lobster pie was adequate, but nothing special. My husband had fried clams. Our... More

We liked this diner so much that we ate there three times during our week long visit to the area. Get there early for breakfast or you will have to wait - but the wait is well worth. Very friendly and outgoing staff.

Ordered the lobster pie - ok, but nothing outstanding, a bit dry. Also tried the seafood stew which was a bit better.
