This has become an iconic place. The food is fine but average and its reputation is a bit inflated. Service is friendly.

We came for diner twice and breakfast once over three days. Their lobster stew or pie is first rate as is all their seafood. All of their food is plentiful and delicious and served quickly at a fair price! Their deserts look great but we were too full to have any!
We ate at the Maine Diner twice during our week long visit to the area - although that probably wouldn't have been the case if not for the fact that it was "off-season" and many restaurants were closed. The service was efficient and friendly and the food did not disappoint. The mac and cheese was the best dish we tried,... More
Anytime my husband and I come to Southern Maine, we always stop at the Maine Diner. The food is always good and my favorite thing to get, is their corn muffins. You can go next door and buy the corn muffin mix to take home with you at the store Things Remembered. We always order something different to try at... More
Stopped here after wanting to visit for years, living just outside Portland. Upset that we took so long to get there. If you're a chowder fan - TRY THE SAMPLER! nothing we had was bad - all very good to outstanding! Great personalities and service too as we sat at the small lunch counter instead of a table. Make this... More
Stopped here for lunch on our way to Kennebuckport. It is a very popular place for many good reasons. There are many selections on the menu that meet a wide variety of tastes. The prices are very reasonable and portions are good sized. The fried clam roll was the best we had had in years.
Visited Maine Diner for a dinner as I had read their ad about Lobster Pie. My wife and I visited this establishment where the waitresses were very friendly. My Lobster Pie was very good and my wife's Turkey Dinner was okay. The price was right but we decided to try other restaurants in the area during our 3 night stay.
I visited Maine Diner during a weekend trip. I think this diner has the old school charm with great food served all day long. If you are lucky to get a table / seat, you should definitely try the lobster roll, seafood chowder and almost anything on the menu. I feel this place really epitomizes hearty food and doesn't waste... More
We arrived at the start of lunch on Thursday December 8th and most people were eating breakfast - huge pancakes looked very good to my wife but we had come for lunch. it is a small traditional diner and unassuming but friendly. club and regular turkey sandwiches were uninspired but fairly cheap. I had the bowl of seafood chowder and... More
My wife and I were in Wells Maine and had breakfast and dinner at the Maine Diner. WARNING: bring a big appetite for a huge size meal. Can't wait do come again.
