Contemporary menu, fresh ideas inspired by great ingredients. Service is timely and well suited to the atmosphere. Saddest day was when Walter’s stopped serving lunch.

Along with relatives and friends we went to Walter's for a late dinner on New Years eave. Although my wife and I have been to Portland many times and have dined in many restaurants, This was our first, and I must say it will not...More
I'd love to give Walter's a better rating but they just didn't cut it for our anniversary dinner. The food plates were small and my scallops were undercooked after I specifically asked they be well done. I cannot stand when they take away your plate...More
We ordered too much here and regretted nothing. The Brussels sprouts salad was a revelation, and I do not say that lightly! We positively *scarfed* it. Every dish we ordered we finished and would have licked the plates if it would not have sent our...More
We recently ate here with friends. The staff was very nice. The food was excellent, calamari, salads, salmon and duck. We would definitely visit again!

Walter's is one of my favorite restaurants. It absolutely ranks up with all the James Beard nominated restaurants in Maine. The food has always been exceptional and the service is good as well. My favorite dish ever was a salmon three ways I had there.
