Although this restaurant was not our first choice for our only night out in Portland, we were not disappointed and will certainly return. Suggest you get there early and get a table by the window, though the larger room with visible kitchen could be a treat, although a little noisier. We focused on the fish - a special scallop meal... We had never been to Five Fifty Five. We were looking for brunch this AM and discovered they served. It was so good! My husband had the "traitor eggs" (eggs benedict) which included lobster meat. I had the traditional breakfast with eggs, bacon, toast, and a piece of sausage which was to die for! We thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely... More

In many years of dining out, this was the first time my partner and I sent back cocktails because they were watered down to the point of unrecognizability. The waiter took them back; it appears the bartender put the old drinks in a shaker, added something (?) re-shook and returned substantially the same drinks. So we put those aside and... More

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience. Although we are sorry you did not thoroughly enjoy yourselves, I do feel that it is necessary for me to comment on your claim that we water down our drinks. This is most certainly not the case, I can assure you. We are a respectable establishment... More

I am visiting Portland this week on business and needed to find a great meal after eating at the not so yummy hotel restaurant yesterday. I decided on 555 after checking out the menu. The restaurant is cozy and the staff is super friendly. I had the three day marinated hanger steak and brussel sprouts. It was sooooooooo good! The... More

We came here for my mom's birthday and the food and service were both excellent. I had the lobster mac and cheese, which was to-die-for with the truffle. The waiter was very attentive and knew the menu like the back of his hand. The food presentation is also quite impressive. The desserts were amazing as well.

Came back to 555 after dining there years ago and having a great experience. Good, but a bit disappointed. Ordered a glass of red wine which had clearly come from a bottle that had been opened for quite some time. To the server's credit, he brought over a bottle and opened it in front of me and poured another glass.... More

Thank you for taking the time to critique 555. It is so important for us to learn when we have not done our jobs 100 percent correctly. We will address the temperature issue in our kitchen meeting immediately, I am truly sorry that happened, there is nothing more disappointing than having your steak cooked incorrectly. Although we certainly should have... More

First off, I cannot fully express here how great this restaurant is. I have been to more expensive or prestigious ones that fell short in comparison. If I could afford it and lived a bit closer, I would go here much more frequently. Staff- Immaculate. The waitress was engaging and helpful. The bus-person (very nice lady) was more than attentive... They offer 5 courses meal for 65 which was a steal. Food was decent, oysters were fresh and scallops were made perfectly except my boyfriends steak was overdone.

Really enjoyed my meal at this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was exactly what I wanted. The hangar steak was very tender, excellent fries and that was after a wonderful goats cheese salad. Nice selection of wine too. Wonderful ambience in the centre of Portland.
