As a former french fry cook it is impressive to see a place actually blanche their fries before cooking! The only way to do proper chips. Also good portions at a reasonable price.

Read about this place so had to try while there. The fries were good. Not the best I ever had but average. Wife and I got a box and we had no problem eating them all. Quick service and cost was reasonable. Wanted to say...More

The best french fries in OOB, hand cut crinkle fries, perfectly cooked to be slightly crispy, not soggy.

I was in town this past weekend and read about this place. Perfect afternoon snack. The service was super fast and with lots of places to sit around the store, it's a must see when you're in town. The box seemed a bit much for...More

Very flavorful. Not your average french fries. And they give you a box overflowing with fries. Try them with salt and vinegar, Yumm

Honestly not real sure what the big hype is over these fries. I've had much better, but had to try them since everyone raves about them. We did add the salt & vinegar after we tried a few plain ones. Like I said, they were...More

The long line moves quickly and after our order was filled and we had salted and sprinkled white vinegar on the perfectly cooked fries, we found a bench and started eating. What a treat! No wonder fans line up from April to autumn closing. Fabulous...More

I know the fries are gluten free, they actually advertise that. I would like to say that because they publicly make that claim, they don't make anything else in the same oil but you would have to ask them directly.
Dear Jim E, We enjoy and appreciate the many comments and opinions from our thousands of annual customers. We are always looking To improve any aspect of our business from thoughts, both good and/or bad, from all of the patrons that visit us at Pier Fries every year. But you sir, have crossed the line. And because of this... On the rare instance this happens... I feel the need to respond to your post. Your hurtful comment of our "greed"... And how we have somehow compromised our quality of our product to benefit our business is both flat out wrong as well as irresponsible on your part. We hand cut EVERY SINGLE potato that comes into our shop... And your suggestion that something has changed recently in our 80+ years of business is quite frankly... A joke. I am writing this to defend my family and the 20+ young men and women who work for us, that tirelessly work their tails off to provide, what we hope, is the BEST product that can be sold. To that point... I invite you to come to our facility... Cut a 150lb barrel of our "frozen fries" for yourself... And I in turn will be happy to pay for your finished box of Pier Fries, out of MY own "greedy" pocket. Any... Time... You ... Would...like. We apologize if the order you had was not up to par. We try, with every single order, to make them the best experience EVER. And if this was not the case... Please... Come see me or my wife... And we will be thrilled to make it right. But to suggest that our "GREED" is involved in your batch of Pier Fries...????? We appreciate ALL suggestions and opinions about our business. And we hope to learn from each one of them. However, when you see fit to acuse me, my family and the ridiculously hard working young employees we have of being "greedy" and serving a product that is anything but the best potatoes, oil, salt, ketchup and anything else that makes us "Pier Fries" with no knowledge to the truth.... That is when I will respond with aggressiveness... To the great Place that we are. ....... Next time... Get your facts in order, before you decide to degrade a great Maine ICON... That we still are. A well written response to some unappreciative customer. Consumers have taken the motto "the customer is never wrong" too far! And I know how hard it is to find good help, I admire Allan's defense of his employees. I look... More
