After trying several places along the coast of Maine, closed for the season, we journeyed to Freeport and found the Freeport Chowder House. We shared a lobster roll, delicious, and both had Haddock chowder. There was plenty of fish, potatoes and onions in the chowder. While sitting there and eating a large group came in and were expressing dissatisfaction in... More

This is possibly the worst meal we've had. Sounded good, award winning chowder it said on the signs. The place was extremely small and dirty. Since it was so full we figured it must be good and placed an order for the lobster special, a crab special and a kids meal of chicken fingers. With a bottled water and ginger... More

My first impression was the place was dirty. Dirty floor, dirty windows. The old guy who took my order had on no apron and his shirt was filthy. His hands were covered in flour and some other food as he took my order and money. After taking my money, he went back to cooking and didn't clean his hands. My... More

We stopped for a quick lunch while visiting Freeport. We enjoyed the special, which was a small chowder and a small lobster roll. It was a good lunch.

The worker was friendly and talkative. The place was way to expensive for a take away place. I would not go out if my way unless you are on the street already. I can't rate the place any better then a fast food place. Most senior citizens will not be able to afford the lobster roll or clams

The old guy was nice. I didn't like the chowder. Very watery and tasteless. Mini lobster roll was on a stale finger roll. Disappointing lobster too, watery and salty. They give it to you plain with a packet of generic mayonnaise. So sad.

We had family in for a wedding and they wanted to try lobster rolls, chowder, and blueberry pie. This place was perfect. Close to LLBean and shops, outside seating. Reasonable prices, great food!

Felt like chowder and saw The Freeport Chowder House. My husband got the lobster stew he wasn't thrilled with it (not seasoned enough and it only had two claw sections in it) but I had the seafood chowder and it was jam packed and seasoned nicely. People came in and ordered the lobster roll and they looked amazing.
