Stopped in for lunch while driving through the area. Cute downtown in scenic area, but clearly for tourists, as is the restaurant. Lobster roll was OK, but those from roadside trailers at half the price are twice as good. Service was inattentive.
One of the few eating options in Damariscotta on a Sunday night in November, the service was slow (the waiter/bartender on the second level looked like he could of used some help) and the menu on the expensive side. I ordered the Shrimp Bruschetta and the Thai Stew, and while the Bruschetta had a generous portion of shrimp, the Thai... More
We had no intention of eating here in the first place. We tried to get seated at a pub across the street. Not only did they have a wait of nearly half an hour, there was no place to sit and wait for a person with a walking disability. So we gave up, looked around, and spotted the DR Grill.... More
I was visiting the area to catch up with friends who live here. They chose the place, I just showed up. Very accommodating staff, warm and charming with many different dining areas. Upstairs, downstairs (main floor), in the back of the house, you pick it. Unique, fun, and a great menu at reasonable pricing. Casual dress to business casual for... More
The appetizers at the River Grill are excellent and a variety shared among a party makes a great lunch or dinner. The mussels are farmed in the Damariscotta River, and the smoked salmon is from Maine as well. Decent prices, too.
This was a wonderful surprise in a perfect Maine town and setting. The scallops and shrimp dish with Parmesan cheese is elegance on a plate. The fish taco meal is excellent as well. We had two great desserts which were prepared to order. Our server also was professional in every respect, brightening a cold, rainy day. Do not miss this experience.
We went at a busy time, so it was very load, but the food was outstanding. I had my favorite Scallops served in an orange white balsamic sauce. They were so delicious. I've never enjoyed Scollops so much. They were served with a pea pesto and beet greens that were divine. Rice is the side - no potatoes in Maine???... More
On our way back to Freeport for dinner, we passed through the town. I asked my wife if she minded trying a new place in this little town. She agreed. I poked my head in and saw a wall of best restaurant of the year awards for several years running. I told me wife this is the place. We got... More
