To say this is a luxury inn in Camden is a stretch. Rooms are ok but not great. Towels are thin. Rooms aren’t cleaned during the stay. Service was iffy. Food was great, especially dinner. But none of the staff except the chef showed up...for Sunday breakfast, leaving everyone to scramble. One of the managers told us the staff stayed out partying until 4 am and didn’t come to work. The location is good and it’s nice to be able to walk into town. But very uneven service and no attention to detail. Would not come back.More

We have visited Camden 6 times and have never been able to get into this restaurant, but this time we DID!!! And Wow, it was beyond an impeccably delicious dinner!! An anniversary dinner I will never forget- started with an asparagus balsamic bruschetta appetizer, carrot...soup garnished with maple bacon, mouth watering Cod with a creamy lemon herb sauce that I would’ve licked my plate if no one was looking, and last the MOST amazing blueberry soufflé with crème Anglais that surpassed any dessert in France by a mile!!! This place has one hell of a gifted chef- I will be making reservations to eat here again on our trip back next year!! What a true culinary treat!!! Thank you!!!More

We always enjoyed the Hartstone. The new chief is even better than Chef Michael. Just the right amount of salt, good use of balsamic and first rate cookings. Definately worth a visit.

We had a reservation here over the Memorial Day weekend. We were greeted and seated promptly at our reservation time and had a cold cocktail in our hands within minutes. We thought their 3 course menu was not only tremendous but also represented great value....The app, entree and desert were all fresh, well prepared, proportioned well and presented beautifully. Just as important (or maybe more so) - they all tasted great. The service was spot on - great attention to all your needs but not obtrusive in any way. We had a great evening and would highly recommend!More

This could very easily be a five star Inn. We were never personally greeted or made to feel welcome as we have in other bed and breakfasts that we have stayed in. No one asked if there was anything we needed of if our room...was comfortable. With a little effort the room could have been very nice. We were in the Cottage Suite. The carpet was badly stained, the fireplace didn’t work properly and proper hangers were needed! It isn’t a room for older adults as there are step-downs into the bedroom and into the bathroom. The breakfasts were good and it was nice to have a choice of two dishes. We had a very good dinner there one evening.More

We ate here last year when staying at the Inn and loved it so much the first night that we ate there the second night as well. This year was just as great as last year. I highly recommend eating at The Hartstone if you...are near Camden.More

My husband and I wanted a special meal for our wedding anniversary but we were a bit disappointed. The service was very slow and unfortunately it was very difficult for us to hear or understand several of our servers (several of whom seemed to be...in training). Both of our first course soups were very salty. I could not eat mine and it was replaced with a salad. I think our server misunderstood that my husband preferred his steak rare rather than the standard medium rare. His steak arrived well done. He did not complain because he is a very kind man. My vegan dish (special request) was ok but I did not really enjoy it. The grilled fruit (peaches?) had a very strong smoky flavor. It was an odd combination of dried fruit, wilted spinach, cauliflower and spicy pepper with the grilled fruit over couscous. It too was overly salty. The desserts were fine but were abruptly served without us being offered coffee or tea. Service was slow - we left exactly 2 hours after arriving. All in all not the dinner we had hoped for.More

We had dinner at the Hartstone on a Sunday night earlier this month. The highlights of the cuisine were the Lobster Francaise, the haddock with shrimp and scallops, and the cheesecake. The only disappointment was the quail appetizer, which had nice flavor but little meat....The service had problems. First, we were served the starter meant for another table of diners. Then we were brought very good bread but no butter. Later, I was brought a dessert that I had not ordered. When I got the cheesecake that I did request it came without a fork, so I ate it with the only clean spoon at myself service. Then we were brought our bill before we had an opportunity to order an after-dinner coffee. To top it off, the staff had not notice that restroom had no toilet tissue until I pointed it out.More
