This restaurant has reopened as High Tide. There have been three or four or more restaurants in this building. It is a shame that none of them have survived as it is a beautiful location.

I had scallop scampi which was floating in butter, not a lot of flavor. Hubby had a burger. Staff was eating/talking in bar area as we dined.

I've been here many times before when formerly known as the Muddy Rudder. Good water views of the river. The former ownership/management used to feature an outstanding Lobster Pie which is not longer available on the current menu. Took my parents here in December. Upon...More

My family took me here for my birthday, not only because I could eat free, but because they knew I had been wanting to go there. It was great!. We had a table by the window with nice view of the river and Bangor waterfront....More

We were in for a business lunch, and overall food was just OK... Service was lacking, and food didn't arrive all together, not an impressive visit. Given that it was a cold January noon, will give it another try, as have had better experiences with...More

Very mixed experience. Positives: excellent local draft ale, properly cooked fresh asparagus, good garlic mashed potatoes. Negative: my wife and I each chose what the menu described as "haddock stuffed with crab, Newberg sauce"; what we got was haddock of indifferent freshness, overcooked on the...More

Celebrating an anniversary and wanting to have a nice seafood meal, I made reservations for this establishment based on other Tripadvisor reviews. I explained that it was our anniversary and that my wife would like a table by a window overlooking the river. The hostess...More

Yes, the food is good. Waitress was okay. We tried to use the Lions Club Book but they only except one coupon per table. If you decide to go with another couple who also used the coupons, you will need to sit at different tables....More

First of all, our server, Bryce, was professional, friendly, and accommodating. This is worth mentioning, as you really don't see that very often. We had turkey club sandwiches- they nailed it! The bread was toasted perfectly- not dry or soggy. Every ingredient was fresh- the...More

Schooners, formerly Muddy Rudder, is a family owned business purchased by the Kessock family in mid-2011. Since that time its reputation has steadily grown as the best seafood restaurant in the area.In February 2012, the name was changed to Schooners Seafood & Steakhouse. In addition to our Maine Seafood, we now offer a unique selection of steak options.Every effort is made to purchase only fresh products whenever possible. For example, ALL of our meat entrees are fresh, never frozen, aged in our cooler, and hand-cut on site. Even our hamburgers and chicken entrees are fresh as well. Our patrons are also able to enjoy the finest view in the city; our large windows and outside deck overlook the beautiful Penibscot River just a few yards away.Try us. You’ll taste the difference.
