We went on a very long hike over the Easter weekend, so we were famished by the end of it. I think we hiked about 12 kilometres, so we were in need of food and drink. There aren't many places to eat in the area, so we decided to drop in here. The staff were extremely friendly, full of chat... More

I saw this restaurant advertised in a Ribble Valley magazine, the write up was great, lots of awards, I looked at the web site and the write up was fabulous, and decided to book for a friends birthday celebration. I was a little surprised that I couldn't book over the phone and even more surprised when I had to give... More

I always enjoy a meal at the Parkers Arms. It's a proper pub with really friendly owners, lots of character, good wine and beer, great food and open fires. Often there is a nice twist to some of the dishes with Stosie, the head chef, working her magic with unusual spices and smokey flavours. The puddings are rich and delicious.... More

Our experience of Sunday lunch was not what we expected. The place was disorganised with the manager calling instructions over the bar to the two lads who were waiting on. The food was slow to arrive, starters were very good, mains even slower. I choose the Bowland beef served medium, and like several other diners had to ask for a... More

Can't say enough good things about this place! Lovely setting in the Trough of Bowland, the staff are always really friendly and welcoming. The partridge I had was really great, so tasty!

We are two couples who always feel we should at least attempt a reasonable walk in 'The Trough of Bowland' . Five years ago after a five mile hike we found a gem of a place in Parkers Arms and on our latest visit last weekend we still feel the same. Always a lovely welcome from AJ his sister and... More

Went in for a quick drink and to check the venue out for a potential wedding venue... nice cosy place. The owner wanted to cut us up and put us in a pie and to serve us with chunky chip, however a few people were at the bar and he said that they would be witnesses if we went missing...... More

Visited the Parkers Arms for a late Sunday lunch. We had booked a tables and were put in a sun room / conservatory that was very cold. The service was very slow. The food was good and the landlord very friendly. I think if we had been in the main bar area where the fire was then it would have... More

Went today for a bite to eat after a long walk with my family, we have not been for a while. The pub was I am glad to say what I class a great English country pub with no pretence or snobbery, welcoming and the fires lit! The food however wasn't typical pub grub it had an edge of class... More

We arrived at 5 to be met by AJ behind the bar. Fantastic beer, wine, service and food. The Sunday roast was especially good.

Description
A contemporary country inn with its fair share of history, The Parkers Arms is located just outside of Clitheroe in the prettily sleepy village of Newton in Bowland where, so were told you can hear the grass grow. The beautifully traditional whitewashed inn, hung with colourful baskets of flowers and lined with parasol shaded outdoor tables, invites guests in with the promise of glorious regional food and a relaxed but sophisticated atmosphere both of which it delivers in spades. The cuisine is rightfully British, with a few global treats of course, based on local and seasonal ingredients cooked using creativity and imagination as well as a little tradition too (and speaking of tradition we absolutely insist you try the fantastic Sunday roast here at The Parkers Arms). Pints of good local ales are joined by delicious wines from all over the globe, so whether youre resting after a bracing dog walk or celebrating a special occasion, The Parkers Arms has not only the food but the drink to suit too. Indeed, balancing modern and classic style, informal and efficient service and relaxed and special food, The Parkers Arms appears to have created what could quite easily be the perfect local inn.
