I love this place. I can't believe it's not higher up the list. We had the shepherd's pie and it was delicious! Service was prompt and friendly. The dessert selection from their bakery is fabulous. Always our "go to" spot for a meal when in Bangor.

In for lunch today, hubby really wanted the seafood platter at $28, told him to go for it. Well that was a mistake, everything tasted pretty much the same, clams, whole belly, had a sharp tang to them. Coating too thick on the seafood. Think the fryer oil needed to be changed, dark colored, and over cooked. As for the... More

Took my daughter out to breakfast. Her eggs weren't cooked, as in runny whites, mine was cooked to almost rubber, the toast wasn't buttered, the homefries didn't have the first thing to call a seasoning and both the sausage and bacon tasted old. I was so disappointed! And not to leave the service out....that was rather slow. I should have... More

My wife and I stopped in at the Governor's on Broadway in Bangor for a late lunch. We enjoyed our lunch. The food was well prepared. The best part was the attentiveness of the waitress. She made the difference between an average lunch and a very good or nice lunch.

I go to Governor's maybe 4 times a year, simply because of location. I would go more often. The food is always really good. It doesn't matter which one you go to, they all have consistently good food. The setting is always nice and relaxed. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, you really can't ever go wrong with Governor's. I... More

Stopped for lunch on a Monday with my husband and mother. I ordered my favourite dish, the deep fried pickles. My husband jumped at the daily special of Angus Burger and fries for $5. My mother had the homemade soup and roll. She just order the cup size soup and it was a small bowl which was plenty big. It... More

I was visiting Bangor for work, and several locals said we had to try Governor's, as it's an institution. Don't expect fancy - it's super casual and very diner-esque. But the food is very good. I had the BLT with their homemade kettle chips, and everything was delicious. A fellow diner had the coffee milkshake and swore it was perfection.... More

We stopped in about lunch time but I think you could still order breakfast! It was all delicious, and the bakery goodies, well you can't just walk back out the door and not pick up something! The treats are awesome, some of them way too big for just one person so be sure to share!

Visiting Bangor with my wife, we wanted to eat in but wanted chowder. Ended up doing take out with fish chowder, half and half seafood platter, both very good. Chowder was very thick, actually didn't have much broth. The platter was lightly fried, not over breaded or over cooked. And, my wife had Nightmare for dessert. All very good, we... More

Governors is an awesome restaurant! If you can't find, something you like on their extensive menu and daily specials I would be shocked. There is, plenty of comfort food of excellent quality and generous portions. Their French fries are the best around. Service is very good as,well. The prices are, some of the best around.

Thank frank c
