It had been a long time since having the "original" Italian sandwich that Amato's is famous for, but having one Saturday reminded me how delicious this sandwich is.

If there's a better place to buy a sandwich in the Bangor area I don't know about it. Awesome Italians, chicken parm sandwiches, etc. Service is always friendly and fast.

Having had an amazing Lobster roll at the Saco store I assumed I could enjoy one from the Bangor store. Half the size and only about 2 big tablespoons of Lobster meat. So very disappointed. However my husband sandwich was good but I felt I should have gotten my money back on my Lobster roll. Very sad

Stopped in to grab some take out. If we had dined on location everything we ordered would have been sent back. Stale bread, wilted/old salad ingredients and meatballs full of mush. and based on there menu pricing they seem proud of what they serve. We will not be returning anytime soon

This is our go-to sandwich destination when we're in one of the several locations in Maine where they have shops. The staff is always great and the sandwiches will make you a believer. I recommend the Italian sandwiches and chicken parm sandwich.

We went in for the delicious food I remembered from years ago. My wife went into the washroom and came right back out with disgust. Filthy!! Then upon looking into the open kitchen we saw a lot of dirt and they should be glad the health inspector didn't show up. So again, we didn't get to the food part. Hopefully... More

We stopped there for a late lunch. We first went to Amato's in Portland 30 years when we lived in southern Maine. They had THE best sandwiches, and we've visited other locations along the way but our most recent visit in Bangor was quite disappointing. The food was barely average. Sorry, we wouldn't go back...

On a random ride to Bangor last weekend we decided to stop at Amato's. Got a large pizza and was surprised how good it was. Can't wait to go back and try a sub next time on their homemade bread.

This has become one of my fave places to eat. I love their veggie wraps they are huge and very filling. Nice clean place, they have lots on the menu, and they also have salads and desserts.

Description
For 110 years Amato's has served real food to real people, like you. We are a Maine company and we are proud of our heritage and history. We believe in quality and service and we work hard to deliver only the best tasting and freshest meals daily.Amato's begun in 1902 in the Old Port District of Portland Maine when Giovani Amato began serving fresh sandwiches to the many hungry dock workers. Since then it has grown to become a Maine institution and the undisputed favorite Italian sandwich through out the state. Don't miss the chance to taste a real Maine Italian. We also have some of the best pizza, pasta, and salads around too!
