While in the area, we ran out of time to visit all the eating establishments we had on our bucket list. We stopped by Strawn's to pick up some pie to go. It was a cute place, very friendly. Ordered strawberry, banana cream and coconut...cream. The strawberry and banana were to die for. The coconut cream was our least favorite, wouldn't get it again. Look forward to returning and having a "sit down" meal with these folks.More

Excellent: Biscuit's; ham steak, homemade hash browns; pie; pancakes; eggs Other stuff on the menu I'm not sure because the above is all wife and I had to eat. But, I bet it is all good. Fun atmosphere.

My wife and I have been going to Strawn's whenever we are in Shreveport for well over 30 years and have always absolutely LOVED their pies. Last time we went to Shreveport, we took my wife's mother there and she loved them too. Sad to...say, they seem to now be suffering from the post pandemic blues. This time around, and for the FIRST time EVER in all those years, my wife and I were both disappointed. My strawberry pie was good, but it just seemed to consist of strawberries and a very thin, somewhat overcooked crust. It tasted good, but Strawn's used to have some sort of cream filling mixed in with the strawberries that made that pie something special. My wife had the coconut pie, and she said that it lacked something as well and that the crust on her pie was overdone too. Plus, the price was $5 a slice ( I'm sure due to the inflation that seems to be currently rampant, driving the prices of food ingredients upwards.) I don't THINK that their pies were $5 a slice the last time we ate there, probably 4 or 5 years ago, but I may be mistaken. But their pie then was so good then, we would have been happy paying it. This time were disappointed; my wife to the point where I am going to have to talk her into going back again if we should pass through Shreveport in the future. Help was courteous and prompt, and the pie was all we ordered so I can't comment on anything else. I DID get a cup of coffee which was fine. But we both came away feeling sad.More

We always plan our travel schedule so we can stop here when we pass through Shreveport. It had been a few years since we were able take a long trip, so we were excited to return to Strawn's! The food is as good as we...remembered: club sandwich, Facebook salad (spinach with grilled chicken, feta, strawberries and pecans) and - of course! - a big piece of chocolate pie. The servers were even better than we remembered. It was recently remodeled, including rearranging certain areas and installing new flooring, so now the place looks even better too. We'll definitely be back!More

Get there early if you want a table for breakfast. I got an omlette and my husband had eggs and their homemade hash browns. The service is friending and professional. The cafe is clean and nicely decorated. Didn't wait long for breakfast. I will only...eat a breakfast here which they serve all day. Lunch and dinner are basically okay cafeteria style, fresh from the can meals.More

Basic and okay breakfast. Waitresses had so much drama and pettiness it was distracting and frustrating. Pie was delicious.

We try to find places where locals eat when visiting new towns. We knew we had a winner when we saw the fire department and a small mens prayer group had a table here. The space itself isn’t very large. It is full of a...mix-match set of tables. Really interesting murals on the walls. The place shows it’s well-worn age but makes up for it in southern breakfast as it’s best. Everything we had was great. Biscuits, eggs, hashbrowns, pancakes, bacon and sausage. I will say that they ran out of glasses and we used to-go styrofoam which was fine with us. I also overheard our waitress tell another table they were out of biscuits and it would be 30 minutes for more to come out. Overall, we would definitely eat here again.More

We were with a large group and our orders were held back because we moved. So no complaints that the food arrived cold -- our fault, not theirs. Breakfast is breakfast and their eggs and ham were about the same as everyone else's. The "hash...browns" weren't really. They are cubed fried potatoes with NO onions - what are they thinking? But the BISCUITS are DIVINE!!!!More

Read this was a good place so went there. simple breakfasts: oatmeal, toast and an omelette. Well the oatmeal had so much water it was more like a soup. One order of toast burnt then scrapped. The other was hot bread. With a giant gob...of butter in the middle of the slice. Omelette was good though. Certainly would never go back.More
