We were staying at LaQuinta on a Sunday night, so decided to follow Trip Advisor reviews and eat at City Diner steps away. Very disappointed at service. "Help Wanted" sign perhaps an indicator. Two waitresses, two cooks for a full restaurant. We accidentally spilled a glass of iced tea on the table and floor, and it took a bit to... More
Visited here as i was staying at the holiday inn close by and felt hungry one night. The place is older and not chain so it feels like it has some character and the staff reflect that. I ordered a ommlette which was huge and chatted to a charming young guy who was clearing the tables and was a real... More
City Diner was two blocks from our hotel in Metairie, so we opted for breakfast here after our noon check-out. We were pleased to learn that they serve breakfast 24/7. Options include egg and meat combos, omelets, pancakes, etc. Their stuffed pancakes were named the most outrageous dish in New Orleans, according to the menu. We were very happy to... More
This place has the best breakfast food, and if you love pancakes, this is your place. They are literally the size of pizzas, come with fruit toppings, I myself had the original which was excellent; along with my creole omelet stuffed with shrimp, crawfish, and a new Orleans creole sauce!!!!! Delicious!!!!
My husband and I spent the night in Metairie on the way to a cruise and the morning of the cruise we ate at City Diner for breakfast. We ordered omlets which were delicious. While waiting for our food to come we saw a HUGE stack of pancakes served on a pizza pan due to the size. When we inquired... More

It had a menu with a lot of foods we were not familiar with but the server was not only helpful but very friendly and funny! The food... More
The food and service is just OK-nothing special. Had dinner there during a rain storm because it was next to our hotel. We would not recommend it - it's just not up to par for a diner.
