The restaurant on arrival appeared clean and very quite with only 3 tables in use. We ordered our food at 7pm, all three of us opting to go straight for a main course, 2 entrecote steaks (1 bleu and 1 rare) and a herb crusted...lamb, we also ordered some drinks which took a good 15 minutes to arrive. After 45 minutes of being harrassed by flies in the indoor restaurant and still no food, we asked for some bread to stave off the hunger. A full 15 minutes later our meals arrived with some bread? Both steaks were cooked the same, ok fair enough we could live with that but my daughters lamb had less of a crust more of a mulch containing and overpowering amount of basil. When trying to explain to the staff an hour was far to long to wait for a meal especially in a restaurant with so few people dining, she didnt appear to careless. Also two tables that sat down after us were presented food before us. When I paid the bill (over 150 swiss francs for 3 main courses and 7 standard drinks 2 of which were soft drinks!!) The waitress again shrugged shoulders and explained it was just her serving the now 5 tables of customers, on a Saturday night. The fly swot in the picture that not only had a squashed fly but dried fly blood was left on the bar!!!! So a plea to the Swiss tourist information board, please please have a quiet word as this restaurant would be enough to put many tourists off of visiting your beautiful country again!More

Travelling along the "Route de l'Absinthe" I stopped for lunch in the tiny village of La Côte aux Fées. Hôtel de la Poste is a traditional restaurant, located across the church. My lunch was a rollercoaster - jumping from good to bad and back again....Starting on a positive note the dining room is really cozy, nicely decorated and with much room between tables. Re service the waitress was polite, though not overly friendly. Upon ordering I experienced an incredible dialogue: [me] What is the difference between the "beef tartar" and the more expensive "beef tartar Du Chef"? [waitress] I don't know, the Chef never told me. [me] Would you be bothered to go and ask him? While she enquired with the Chef, I could overhear him answering "Why on earth does he want to know?!" This behaviour is definitely a NO-GO! The food is acceptable, but deserves a better presentation. As starter I had the beef carpaccio. Good quality, but the slices were slightly too thick. Adding some extra old cheese was a very nice and tasty touch. As main course I chose one of the house specialty: perch fillets meunière. The portion was truly gargantuesque - at least 350g of fish, perfectly pan-fried. However I missed a beautiful presentation: the perch fillets were piled up, with some boiled potatoes on the side. It looked like a dish you would get in a canteen rather than a restaurant. As dessert I chose the apricot tart. It was clearly homemade and tasty; but once again, the presentation could be improved, as the tip of my tart piece was falling apart. For Swiss standards the prices remain surprisingly moderate. Including wine and coffee the bill amounted to CHF78.More

Pleasant staff, reasonable lunch menu, starter was a asparagus salad with smoke ham, followed by a snail sausage with Rosti with a vegetable gratin ,just a good avarage food.
