Found this place for dinner before we headed over to the Louisville Palace for a Show. Fantastic place to eat. Make reservations ahead of time because fairly small dining area and expect to be there 1-2 hours. Wait staff was good but only a few servers so expect a little wait time. We loved our meals from appetizer to dessert... More

This restaurant has good review so we wanted to check it out. The experience is so so. Food ingredients are fresh but when the it was brought to the table, it was warm (not hot) so it makes one wonder if it's cooked earlier in the day and just warmed up before serving. We had rabbit, pork and Mayan burger... More

This is my all time favorite restaurant in Louisville. It is small and sometimes crowded. The food is authentic Mexican Caribbean cuisine. The owner and head chef is of Mayan descent and has created some imaginative dishes while staying true to his native heritage. The mole is amazing, as are the lima beans. Pork pibil will make you feel like... More

We recently talked a doctor into buying our medical students Mayan Cafe and it was amazing as always. I had salmon with the famous Lima beans and grilled cactus (tasted like salsa/ seviche with a kick) and was excellent. I wanted seconds. My mates had tacos and burritos with huevos and everyone was beyond satisfied.

Small, intimate (reservations a must) and unique. The service is always excellent and food even better. Farm fresh and expertly prepared and presented. I know this sounds crazy - but even if you don't think you like lima beans, get the lima beans!

I have always loved the whole dining experience at Mayan Cafe. I am not in a position to comment on its authenticity but man this is some serious amazing food. The salbutes selection is amazing and they do a great job with the meats. They used to have a to die for chicken tortilla soup but ended up discontinuing it.... More

The place is tiny. Make reservations to avoid disappointment. We learned this the hard way. Nice ambience, we had a table for 2 next to the window. The service was also good. I ordered the salmon which comes with lima beans and malanga cake. Though apparently this place is known for their lima beans, I do not like lima beans... More

Thanks for dining with us, Marty. We're glad you enjoyed your meal! We offer 3 types of sugars - sugar in the raw, splenda & stevia. I do apologize if none of those are your preference. We'd love to you in again, so don't hesitate to make a reservation. Thanks very much, Anne More

You can come casual or dressed and feel at home in a cozy atmosphere. Interesting and varied menu selections, friendly and attentive service. Our first time here, but this is going to be one of our favorites.
