It was a nice clean place to eat, a bit posh, but nice. While the food was good, and at the time well priced, currently a £10 mains deal is in effect for January. The bruchetta was tasty but a bit large and difficult to eat without it ending up all over the plate. The venison and mash was good... More

My wife and I were invited to join family for dinner with a set New Year's Eve menu. For starters my wife had beetroot risotto and I had seared scallops, both beautifully cooked and presented. We then had a gin & tonic sorbet. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection, with chunky chips, tomato and mushroom. We had a Rioja... More

I visited the restaurant on Friday night and was extremely pleased with the food and surroundings. Great portions, very tasty and presentation was superb. As a regular diner at other pubs and restaurants, we feel that the website could do with a spruce up. I know about the pub through local word of mouth but feel that advertising this little... More

Popped into the Wheatsheaf on Wednesday for a spot of lunch. I had a 'posh' hotdog with very nice sausages, chips and salad; very tasty and hit just the right spot. There were two choices of good ale on draft. Service from the young lady behind the bar was very good. There were only half a dozen or so customers... More

Went to the Wheatsheaf for a meal on Friday night. This was the first time in quite a while and a little apprehensive after seeing a few less than complimentary comments. I shouldn't have been worried, the service was excellent and the meal equally as good. The whitebait and mushroom starters were really nice, the palma ham wrapped chicken was... More

Have dined here on numerous occasions and have always had a lovely meal, that is until last night! There were 5 in our party and we were given 2 conflicting menus, apparently one of them was a previous menu! Both of them were nothing like the one shown on their website. Food choice was poor to say the least and... More

Returned with the same family of 6 that had a fantastic meal here before. The sample menu on their web site and Facebook page was the same as when we visited previously so we expected the same high quality food. How wrong were we. The menu was poor, no pork, lamb or steak on the menu. The prices were of... More

I've been here a few times before, the food used to be amazing. So we decided to visit again. I wish I hadn't bothered. A menu that used to consist of medallions of fillet beef and premium cuts of lamb, has now turned to fish and chips and pie and mash. Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong... More

This was a surprise anniversary meal for myself and my husband. We turned up to find our family already seated (a party of 8 adults and 2 children. A great surprise when we arrived. (Was not expecting). This had been booked on recommendation. Yes the food was delicious but let down by the very poor service. Again as previous comments... More

We visited on Saturday 22nd of September, they are currently short staffed and our food took a long time to get to us. However the service from the staff was faultless they made sure we were compensated for our wait before we'd even had a chance to query why our food hadn't arrived. I'm not a complainer so I was...
