We finished a river cruise in Nuremberg and took a rental car to Munich by way of Lauterhofen to visit the place where our great-great-grandfather was born and baptized in 1809. The kind priest at St. Michael's found the farm where our ancestors were born...and then took us out to meet our fifth cousins who are still farming the land in the village of Brenzenwang. He then guided us to this lovely Gasthaus Schraml for an authentic Palatinate lunch, The bread was homebaked and wonderful. The sausages were also housemade and smoked -- even better than what we had in Nuremberg and Regensburg. And the staff was friendly and helpful. A real Bavarian treat.More
