Otto's on Main Street in the heart of Covington's historic district was highly recommended. While the food was better than average, the service and overall value were poor. No bread served with dinner. Second glass of wine, which was ordered BEFORE the main course arrived,...didn't get delivered until AFTER I finished eating the main course. Nobody ever asked how my meal was. No offer of coffee or dessert. Waiter, who was also the bartender, just dropped my check off without me asking. I wasn't even halfway through my second glass of wine. It was clear they wanted to flip the table. 40 minutes from sitting down to the time the check was brought. Also, my main course of scallops was very small. While the risotto was huge, the three scallops were small and more like appetizers than a main course. I probably wouldn't return.More

My wife and I had dinner and were tremendously disappointed. To begin, the room itself appeared nice, with high ceilings reasonable spacing, but all of the surfaces are hard. This meant that on a crowded Friday evening the noise level meant that my wife and...I found casual conversation difficult as we were speaking in raised voices to be heard. The food however was worse than the atmosphere. Our shared appetizer of roasted Brussels sprouts was large and tasty, but swimming in bacon fat. Because the app was so large we elected to split an entree of pistachio crusted halibut, with a pear and goat cheese risotto. When it arrived the split portions were actually very small, but portion size, however would not have been a problem if the food was good. It wasn’t. Our fish was badly overcooked, and the pistachio topping was more dust than crust, including several unwelcome bits of pistachio shell. My Johnny Appleseed cocktail, a house special, was watery and weakly flavored. Although the ingredients listed a honey-ginger syrup, and apple cider, I detected neither honey nor ginger, and the cider was a faint note at best. We wouldn’t go back if the meal was free.More

Went for lunch with a large group. Four of the ladies ordered the short rib grilled cheese and most couldn't eat or finish it because it was spread with a VERY sweet onion jam. Not good. We ordered the Brussels sprouts which looked delicious but...were also so sweet they were inedible. The tomato dill soup was more the color of pumpkin soup and also quite sweet - and not like tomatoes are sweet - like sugar is sweet. If there was any dill in it I certainly could not taste it. Very nice waitress and the wine was good and a decent but not generous pour. For two people with tip our lunch was nearly $100. It was fine dining prices but average or less fare. Disappointing.More

Otto’s, located in a charming space in the appealing Mainstrasse area of Covington, is a great brunch option. I visited with my daughters the day after Thanksgiving and business was booming. We enjoyed delicious cocktails and hearty sandwiches. Service was very attentive, almost too attentive...at times, but too much is better than too little in my opinion. My girls had the BLFGT, fried egg, bacon (on the side and handed to me since they are vegetarians), lettuce, cheese and a fried tomato on a toasted croissant, and I had a chicken salad sandwich, also served on a croissant, and the soup of the day (I think it was potato leek - I know it was good). The girls enjoyed their meals as did I. My only disappointment is that I forgot to grab my leftovers on the way out and didn’t realize until I was halfway home.More

Great place. Good selection of wine by the glass. Knowledgeable wait staff and the food was great. Fried green tomatoes and caesar salad were delicious. Shared halibut and wish I ordered my own it was so good. Relaxing experience and great talking to others sitting...outsideMore

We thought Otto’s was very good! We all sat at the bar and had drinks and dinner. The service was great. We enjoyed Lance, the bartender. The food was presented well and was very tasty. Fun night! Great area!

I read all of the reviews stating that this has the best bloody Mary’s but I thought it was one of the worst ones I have ever had. Great people working there. I will not be back

Stopped by for lunch, had the crabcake sandwich appetizer which was phenomenal, highly recommend it. Then moved on to the salmon which was also very good. Enjoyed lunch. Service was excellent. We’ll definitely come back

I stopped here on April the 9th on a family road trip with my brother Larry and my nephew Cameron. This was my first time at this restaurant and I will definitely go back again. My brother has been there many times and he ordered...the fried green tomatoes which he liked very much. I ordered a salad that had berries and brie cheese and candy pecans. The salad was fresh and the dressing was exceptional. I highly recommend this little restaurant that has very flavorful food.More

Small restaurant with a quaint atmosphere. All Covid precautions taken. Excellent service, and delicious meals. We had Brussel sprouts appetizer, shrimp & grits and scallops with mushroom risotto. Recommend any of the above. They brought a slice of flourless chocolate torte on the house for...my daughter’s 21st birthday! It was a great way to finish a nice dinner!More
