The enchilada wasn't the best we've ever ha;, the taco, tostada, and carne asada were pretty good; but the guacamole was THE BEST guacamole ever. Chunks of avocado, with onions, tomatoes, cilantro. YUMMMmmmm.
We had the carnitas (recommended by the mesero), Chile relleno, tacos, fajita burrito and rice, beans, guacamole, fresher tortillas. Chips and salsa. No one else in the restaurant for lunch in a Friday, everything was delicioso, and the wait staff friendly. We were driving from...Michigan to Colorado and happened upon this gem. Don’t be dissuaded by the few haters that had bad experiences here. The food and service was great, we will be back.More
I’m giving this establishment a 1 star and that is because I had to choose!!! We arrived with our family ( I will say it was a large party of 14 of us traveling together) and the place was empty. The lady that worked there...never said two words to us until we checked out, but she had no problem shaking her head and rolling her eyes at us the whole time. I believe from what other reviews have said that she is the owner. As we checked out she decided the waiter had everything wrong and out tickets were wrong. Queso and tortillas cost extra so she was trying to add more of those than we ordered and more drinks than we ordered. On our end everything was there on the tickets as they should be. She reached over the counter to snatch the tickets from my mom's hand! My mom then paid her in cash and walked out with no change. She then proceeded to tell me she needed another dollar. The tickets were both under $40 and she gave them $80! It was all paid for. She then walked outside and yelled at my dad that he still owed her money. He came back in showed her that he had and she said it’s fine leave! I finally got my card back and she shook her head at me the entire time yelling in Spanish. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Enjoy your vacation by not meeting her!More
This restaurant has gone down hill. I'm very disappointed in it.
It is ok, the steak fajitas are usually good but the last ones the meat was old or freezer burn. The burritos I ordered was ice cold in the center. I hope it gets...better, I have liked Las Canteras and I want to see it succeed long term.More
We were visiting Norton, and went to this restaurant at lunchtime especially for their Sunday lunch buffet. Walked in and noticed what a brightly-colored and comfortable place it was, and also noticed that we were the only customers in there. On our way to be...seated, we also noticed that a young male employee was lying down asleep in one of the booths. Ordered drinks and asked if I could look at the buffet. The waiter said yes, so I walked over and found it to be completely empty. The employee then told me that there was no buffet. No big deal...we ordered off the menu, and found the food to be just OK. I hate it when reviewers claim that on top of all of the negatives, they ended up with upset stomachs for a day or two afterwards. Well it finally happened. We both ended up with upset stomachs well into the next day. It's a cute place, but we were very disappointed with the food and overall experience. :(More
This is a large, multi-generational family restaurant. It seats 220 persons, full bar, and extraordinary menu of Mexican/Spanish fare. It is spotlessly clean, and the service is attentive and friendly. They have a super chef who puts out top flight food from home made tacos...and crepes to guacamole and sauces. The heat range in spiciness is wide from bland to hot. The menu contains about everything one could expect to order in a top flight Mexican establishment, all cooked, sauteed, baked, roasted, and presented in a traditional manner. The range of fresh vegtables and fruits enables one to assemble a customized vegitarian plate if desired.
They are open seven days a week and have an extensive buffet from 11 til 2 daily for the astounding price ot $8.21, taxes included.
If you are traveling from St. Joseph, MO on the scenic route (HY 36) to Denver, Norton, KS is about half way, and you would be wise to made it your eating stop, if not for lunch, then dinner. I have a home in Nebraska and eat there often when not traveling or living in Winter Park, FL Open until 9:30 P.M. Tel.785-874-4074More
Here on a work stay; local suggested this restaurant! We ate dinner and had delicious margaritas!! First I am a frequent vacationer in Mexico- this place is beautifully decorated as such! And a great patio! The menu is full from American to Mexican food! Their...food is huge portions and their margaritas are delicious!!! Our waiter was superb; have only 1 minor complaint- the female mgr/owner yelled across the restaurant often and sat at a table next to ours playing her phone messages on speaker as we ate and conversed. Mind you we were the only people sitting in a 10 table area do we questioned why dit 3’ away when she could’ve say 9 tables away listening to her messages. She should have better training on customer service And I know Spanish- and heard everything she said to our waiter (I guess she doesn’t like long blonde hair. Oh well...) so her comments were rude. Shes a bed example of the establishment and culture! Anyway love the food and drink!More
Love all the food they have. But sometimes they visit a lot to ask for refill of water or if everything is alright. But at other times you hardly see them. Like if your waiting on salsa or chips and they don't come. Or waiting...for drinks and they don't come. You have to find them to ask them if they are bringing out your stuff. Even on days they are not busy, they sometimes hardly show up to your table for refills. Reason i'm giving it 3 stars instead of 5. Another is if they are not busy, they are on the cell phone and sometimes you don't see them wash there hands after using it. Like phones carry a lot of germs lol.More
