We stayed next-door at the Lyons Inn and walked over to have supper. It’s always hard to know what to eat when you go to different Mexican restaurants. I always play it safe and get a quesadilla. I was very happy with my spinach n cheese quesadilla which came with a helping of refried beans and rice (mushrooms were on the menu with it but I detest them). My husband asked for another jar of salsa and sour cream for his meal and he was charge for them. They did not offer more chips but he had plenty. Our waitress was super nice. A nice place to eat if you’re passing through or local!

Not a lot of options in Lyons

Without a lot of options in Lyons, this place is a good find. I always get to go and it's usually pretty good and comes with chips and salsa. All the dishes I've tried are good - tacos and enchiladas mostly, sometimes the special item for the day - but my favorite are the shredded beef quesadillas. They are around $8 for two, and I specifically ask for shredded beef instead of ground beef. It seems like they are never quite the same, which could be a strike against the place, but they are usually very good. If you're not a big eater, two quesadillas are good for two meals, especially with the chips and salsa. I always find the staff to be friendly, and though I don't dine in, I think it'd be a nice place to sit and eat as well.

Mother’s Day dinner

Our visit was on Saturday evening. There were six of us. The restaurant was mostly empty. Another restaurant in town was having its Grand Opening so many people were at that location. I had the #1. Taco and two enchiladas with beans, rice or both I would rate the food as average. Service was good Atmosphere was good Food value was average.

Great food

Good food, generous portions. I had the steak tacos. Lots of meat but nothing else no garnish what so ever. Just the meat on the soft corn tortilla. Woul have liked some tomatillo or salsa something. Did come with a small side of bean soup that was very good. Will go again and try something else. Hubby had Rellenos and said they were ok but nothing really special.

Good food in a town of limited options

Been coming here for years as I'm in the area regularly. The food is good, portions generous. Nothing exceptional on the taste side, but I've always enjoyed my meal. Staff has always been friendly, although sometimes new and inexperienced.

Not as food as the first time.

Since my first visit, I have been back here twice. Neither visit left me with a good impression. The food quality was mediocre, service was not as good and with the most recent visit, a ceiling tile fell due to a roof leak and it did not even phase the staff. In addition, our group was place at a large table that was placed in front of the emergency exist. Good thing there was no need to use it.

Had to wait a little while for service but they were real busy. Food was hot and good service was good our beverage cups were never empty. We come here when we are in the area.

Nice lunch spot!

Came here for the first time today and enjoyed the tacos. The services was fast and friendly. The biggest negative is that they serve Pepsi products instead of Coke!!

Bland, burned food

We waited 10 minutes to be served, and we were about to leave when waitress finally came to our table. The food tasted burned and very dried out with no cheese. The sauce tasted like it just came out of a can. If one wants Mexican food, try Taco Bell instead.

The BEST tacos Al Pastor.

We happened to be travelling through Lyons at noon on a Sunday and asked for a recommendation from a local gas station for a good lunch. So glad we asked because he was right. This is an very unassuming restaurant but friendly, helpful staff and delicious choices in Mexican dishes. I had the very best tacos Al Pastor ever! They really know how to do them properly. A great beans and chorizo side as well. Their tomatillo sauce for the tortilla chips is almost addictive. SO worth a visit.

Excellent Mexican Food

We had never experienced a meal El Potrillo so as we traveled home on a hot summer evening we opted to stop for a glass of ice water and some Mexican food. We were very pleasantly surprised as to the cleanliness of the whole establishment (carpet, tables, menus, bathrooms, exterior and interior painted nicely, etc), friendliness of personnel on hand and the excellent, tasteful food! My wife ordered Polo Bandito and loved her meal. I, on the other hand, tried a new entrée (for me) Tacos Borrachos! ...two soft taco shells with marinated chicken, freshly grilled onions & peppers with fresh tomatoes & fresh cilantro. If you like cilantro you will absolutely love this entrée. I for one know what I will order the next time we stop in Lyons at El Potrillo! We shall return! Well worth stopping by for a delicious meal!
