Not having visited for two years, we were pleasantly surprised to find that, not only was the food as good as always, but the layout inside has changed, giving a more spacious and relaxed feeling. Instead of queuing at the bar, there is now waitress service - a great improvement. Definitely recommended.

We were driving through the new forest looking to stop for a bite to eat and came upon the Green Dragon. This is an old pub/restaurant establishment. The atmosphere in the pub was very good and the staff and food excellent.Much on the menu is home cooked and I would recommend the steak and kidney pie great. The pub has... More

Having gone for a nice long walk with our Grandaughter and dog, we were looking for somewhere to eat and came across The Green Dragon. We were met by friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble and the food was excellent value for money. A good childrens' menu was available. We did not have to wait long to be served... More

Having visited on previous occasions we decided on a return visit with friends but were somewhat disappointed to find that having sent an email to book the table for 6, and had it confirmed by "Gail", on arrival no such booking existed ! It was therefore a relief to find that they were not too busy and a table was... More

We took our mum here for her 84th birthday, Sunday lunch. Set roast was a little expensive but you don't mind paying when the food and staff are at there best, didn't know at the time but dogs are allowed so we will return with our dogs for a Sunday roast again.

We are occasional visitors for a reunion, and this is our place of choice because of the excellent food (and they have a table big enough for us, upto 12 people). Specials are always interesting (eg "rich game casserole"). Good beer and service, nice welcome, large garden for the summer. If you are visiting the New Forest, this is exactly... More

Stopped for lunch on way to weekend hideaway after a 2 hour drive. Weather was awful but this is a very welcoming pub. Nice varied menu plus specials. We had Steak & kidney pie and homemade faggots, both with creamy mash and seasonal veg. Both dishes were very tasty, buttery mash and veg cooked perfectly, not over cooked. Really generous... More

In the spring and summer time. However you will see from my pics, it is quite different in the Winter. The pub is located at the beginning of the New Forest National Park. The food was excellent (French and American chefs I am told), the girls working behind the bar were very helpful and polite, all in all a very... More

Having had a really good meal here a couple of years back, I was really looking forward to lunch on a return trip but this time was disappointed. Service was very good & friendly - absolutely no complaints there but the food was very average. We were just there for for a quick bite really but the sandwiches were a... More

Description
The Green Dragon dates from the 15th century. It was originally premises for a wheelwright and a coffin maker, then became a beer house some 200 years ago.

Set in a delightful rural setting, the pub overlooks a stream which is spanned by a humped-backed bridge. During the summer months ponies and donkeys can be seen shading on the forecourt of the Inn.

The Pub displays a number of 'bends' of leather, which bear imprints of hot iron brands. These brands represent owners of animals who have commoners rights to allow their livestock to graze on New Forest Land.

To the rear of the pub is a small patio area that leads to our garden, which is a wonderful place to sit and relax in the summer.

Why not come in and enjoy a pint of one of our four cask ales? These ales change all the time so keep an eye out for your favourites.

We are a dog friendly pub although we do ask that you keep them on leads at all times. We do not allow dogs in the restaurant, this keeps one part of the pub a dog free area.
