The Hamburg Inn is truly an Iowa City classic. A tiny, unassuming diner serving timeless menu options like breakfast served all day, burgers and fries, sandwiches, milkshakes, and pie. Never had a bad meal here!

This is the one place to eat at least once in your life. Lots of good old American food. Especially breakfast, even at night. It's crowded at times but worth the wait. They don't make dinners like this anymore.

All through college, I'd go here with groups for the best brunch (especially good for morning-glory recovery from tailgating). If you can, save room for the pie shakes. They are a bit pricy at $8 per shake, but this is easily split between two or...More
