Lack lustre Japanese restaurant

Visited this establishment as I was staying close by. Feels empty and run down as the only service that evening was take away or eat in but without service. So tables were stacked away , floor looked dirty, place seemed run down. Ordered food- a bento box and some other sushi - the miso soup arrived well before the rest. Food was edible but certainly not worth the price $31 for a small bento. Having eaten around the north shores in many restaurants this one is not on my 'return' list.

Japanese Food Done Consistently Well

Great menu, great food, consistently high-quality sashimi, and very reasonable price. I cannot fault it. It is my favourite Japanese restaurant (and we have a few to choose from in the Manly/Freshwater area). Must have eaten there 50 times in the six years we have lived in Freshwater.

first time we have been here. It was busy but the staff were still very friendly and efficient throughout the evening. Really great menu and the food was excellent, also very well priced. Lots of options for larger or smaller meals so an excellent selection.

Disappointing ramen

Having become used to great Ramen in Australia and Japan I was left disappointed with sushi hiro. They use the same two minute noodles that I buy from Coles. And they taste like the two minute noodles from Coles. I spoke with the staff and they apologised and said that you can’t buy good quality Japanese Ramen outside of the city.

Fabulous food, relaxed setting.

Visited with a family including three young children & the service was quick, the food spectacular. Delicious & varied sushi, amazing noodles, very good gyoza. Something for everyone & we all thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. BYO drink, all very reasonably priced. Lovely relaxed, tasty meal.

Food was cold and service

Food was cold and service was slow. Over an hour to be served with relatively few in the restaurant. Staff generally did not care. This restaurant HAD a good name but I will never eat here or take away again

One of the best Japanese in Sydney

Have vistied here few times, it's one of the best Japanese meals we've ever had. Some great choices, it's always busy, which is a good sign, recommend to book. Food is delicious!

Very bad customer service.

I had to have lunch there nearly every Sunday. (Because there aren’t many choices around there.) Each time the staff always rude and acting like we are making them so much trouble even we ask politely and with smiles on our faces. Staffs never smile, always have grumpy faces, snatched the menu out from my hand, didn’t answer when we ask about spitting bills just point to the sign rudely. I never write a bad review before but I really disappointed with the service. The food was good. I hope this review will help making changes to staffs behaviour.

Good service, decent quality ramen and sushi

Ordered a platter for my daughters leaving party - good price and very fresh Also can confirm the Ramen/ noodle soups are also pretty decent Price is good too - on our doorstep so a win-win really

Very disappointed

Lunch for 2 on a Friday. Ambience 0/10. Decor mismatched between old restaurant and new extension. Service ambivalent. Busy takeaway counter customers trail right through both parts of the restaurant. Have to queue up with the takeaway crowd to pay. Food 2/10. Tuna and kingfish sashimi was excellent as was wasabi. Tempura prawns average. Prawns way too small and batter unusual. Chicken teriyaki tasteless and seemed warmed up. Goyza very ordinary and too big. They should be bite sized moist and flavoursome and a signature dish. Menu is way too big. It needs to be parred back to quality dishes cooked freshly with good produce. They need to decide if they want to run a quality restaurant or a takeaway business with table seating.

BYO with excellent sushi menu

Vintage cellars is next door so you can bring your own drinks to this restaurant. The food was high quality and beautifully presented. We ordered the medium sashimi $25 and it was perfect to share for 3 people. The rolls were quite large so a bit difficult to eat. I would recommend ordering the little Sushi rolls (6) as they are easier to handle with chop sticks and bite-sized. Fast and friendly service.

Excellent food - clean food

A good selection to choose from...stand out dish bento box tofu Teriyaki! A bit noisy as a table of six talked over one another however once we moved the evening improved!
