We’re from the east and we don’t often get to the North Side, but we do enjoy exploring the beaches and the cafes! A day off gave us the opportunity to head over and enjoy brunch at Little Collins, Freshwater. About 5 minutes walk from the beach, located on the strip of shops in Freshwater, the cafe is on a corner spot, uncover but open to the breeze and daily sunlight. Stylish and casual fit out with wire chairs, hanging pendant lights and flowers for a decorative element. Staff are friendly and hospitable, make your order at the counter and food is brought to you when ready, and it is quite efficiently. We begin with our coffee, made using Campos beans, and had this with our healthy brekkie bar for a nice little snack while our meal was prepared. Drink wise, there’s plenty of juices and smoothies or milkshakes and kombucha. The menu sports all day brekkie and lunch from 11am with your traditional brekkie favourites, as well as super healthy items like acai, Bircher and salads for lunch. We order savoury dishes; the smashed avo, lemon labneh + dukkah with cherry tomatoes, and dukkah. We added mushrooms to the dish. We also ordered the scrambled eggs with a side of kale and relish. The eggs were nice and creamy, with crispy bread. It was a great brekkie and a good option since you can choose from a range of add ons. The food can be ordered eat in or to go, and if you’re in a rush, there’s also plenty of food ready in the window, from muffins, croissants to healthy slices and we had a few of these too. Coffee is by campos, a mainstream favourite, and there’s also plenty of options for tea, juice or smoothies. Food here is well priced and the cafe overall is very approachable.

Good food, Okei coffee but unfortunately I never go here because the blast horrible party music from opening to closing. I prefer a more peaceful approach for breakfast .

I have been going to this cafe before the name change on and off for several years mostly with my daughter and have to say have never had a really good coffee. Now it has become " Little Collins "? I thought I'd give it another go. It is in what I believe the best position in the village capturing sun and warmth while other cafes are dark and cold so this is another reason I attended. I ordered my usual strong latte and waited at my table in the morning sun and although they were busy during this breakfast rush it only took a few minutes to arrive. I think j know why...I observed one young girl simply holding the large pitcher of milk under the milk wand without any care or skill applied and was more interested in having a good ol chat with another young girl until I guess she thought the milk had been heated enough ?? Well she heated it alright and cooked it ! The BARISTA ? seemed to hide whatever it was that he was doing and so my double ??? shot looked and tasted like a regular. A common problem in Sydney. NOT in Melbourne ...so it was as usual a very disappointing coffee yet again and I only had a few sips and left it on the table much to the dismay of my daughter. Even she tasted it and said " YUK "! and she's only 16. Toby Smith would be very dissapointed that all his passion to produce such beautiful coffee is made with such flippancy and without any love in such a gorgeous place as Freshwater beach. When will I get a great double shot coffee in Freshwater like I do in Days Camperdown or Campos Newtown !!!

I’ve been coming here on and off for a few years and while the food is good, the service is terrible.....it is consistently terrible. Staff hang around and chat instead of clearing tables. They don’t automatically bring you water when you sit down. There is no anticipation of customers’ needs. There’s often no cutlery on the table when your food arrives so it sits getting cold while they go off to find some, have a chat with a colleague and then get back to you with cutlery in their own time. This isn’t true of some of the staff...it’s true of ALL the staff. Service in Sydney is generally terrible as Aussies don’t tip but this place is abnormally bad for service.

I wanted to like this place but it is just terrible. It has a beautiful location and a nice set up. But they employ too few staff and those who are there don’t know what they’re doing. My food came cold, drinks didn’t come at all. When I very politely complained, the staff shrugged and said there was nothing they could do about it. There are loads of other good places around. Don’t come here.

We arrived at 1pm for a quick lunch between Christmas and New Year. My partner ordered the Falafel Salad, I ordered the egg and bacon wrap with hash browns and a pot of tea. The tea was delivered to the table virtually immediately. After about a 20 min wait we were told that the Falafel Salad was sold out, so we ordered the Chickpea Burger. 5 min later we were told that the Chickpea Burger was sold out. We ordered a Chees and Tomato toastie. It look another 30 min for the food to be delivered. My toasted Egg, Bacon and Harsh Brown wrap was semi warm, although the hash browns were stone cold, as was my pot of tea by this time. Really disappointing.

Fantastic Cafe. We have gone a few times to Little Collins over the years and it has always been a real treat. The food is great and reasonably priced for the quality of it. The Staff are nice and attentive and were great with our toddler son. Really enjoy it every time we go there.

The food is completely boring and overpriced. You can make better at home. Don’t bother coming here when there are better options in Freshie

A great place for coffee on its own or for something to eat. This morning I had the porridge, which was a lovely balance of creamy, sweet and with a little crunch. Coffee was a great temperature and had a great smooth taste.

Bacon and eggs roll was good except that it came on a brioche bun which was too sweet for my liking. Would have preferred an option for a savoury bread instead. Good service also

Nice coffee and service however two of the breakfasts were dominated by the usual bagged rocket/spinach combo. So over this fixation amongst Sydney restaurants. No mention of either ingredient on the menu yet it made up 80percent of the dish. Cheap and lazy ingredient.
