Always fun to visit Shipshewana and eat at the Blue Gate. Saturdays are always special because they feature their turkey dinner. The turkey is tender and flavorful and is served with dressing, potatoes and gravy and cranberry sauce. Our whole table ordered it and continues...More

Although menu items are offered, the buffet has something for everyone. If anyone leaves here hungry it is of their own fault. Food from the buffet was hot and fresh, no complaints what soever. Dessert bar is also great.

During our recent visit to Shipshewana, we ate at the Blue Gate Restaurant twice. The first night we ordered from the menu. The service was good and the food was ok. The second visit, we did the buffet. Every item from the buffet I tried...More

Not just good food and friendly service but one of the first buffets that know how to make bacon crisp and biscuits with real chunks of sausage in their gravy. A must if you are close to Shipshewana.

You will not be disappointed. You can order items from the menu or choose the family style meals. Deserts are great! Service is the best. Depending on the time of day, a wait may be required but lots of shopping in the area. Amish-style restaurant.

I had lunch at the Blue Gate restaurant this afternoon. I arrived about 2:30pm and they were still quite busy. Of course it was Tuesday and people were coming from the flea market. I had the chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes....almost as good as...More

This is a tremendous place to eat. Do not buy the play-with-dinner package, though -- there is a $5 coupon on the back of your play ticket that applies to a $25 purchase at the restaurant ($14 each for buffet, $17 each for family-style; we...More

Blue Gate now has a buffet that we enjoyed today! It cost $13 for adults, a little less for children. Their main courses of ham, roast beef and chicken were all present. They serve their signature loaf of bread. Side dishes included Mac & cheese,...More

Typical Amish style restaurant. Food was all very good. We only did the buffet but enjoyed that they had a few new dishes. They did have other options, order or family style. We felt the buffet was the best value.Very clean. Best restrooms I've seen...More

We ate lunch here right around noon on a busy Tuesday, but were seated within 10 minutes for the buffet section of the restaurant. Wait times might be longer for the menu section. The selection was good, service was prompt and efficient. Fresh bread was...More

When the newly built Blue Gate Restaurant & Bakery opened it doors on August 4th, 2001 in Shipshewana, the entire town was invited over for dinner. As one of Indiana's largest restaurants, the Blue Gate comfortably seats 600 (more than the town's population). Built to reflect the surrounding community, the Blue Gate resembles a rambling white farmhouse, similar to those that dot the surrounding Amish coutnryside. An award winning restaurant serving a world famous Family-style meal that features pressure fried chicken and 3 other meats, real mashed potatoes, Amish noodles, plus lots of other sides and 25 varieties of pies to choose from
