Fantastic selection of food on offer in a buffet style choice. As well as a selection of yummy choices on menu(all included in buffet price) The ingredients are sourced straight from the farm, everything from eggs to the honey. The service was great, waiters are very friendly and knowledgeable. Booking is essential, this place is almost always full.

We love going to Babel, made a little easier since the relatively recent introduction of an online booking system. Food is always incredibly fresh and seasonal, and bursting with color and flavor. Starter salads are like art, and main courses are always delicious. Baby chicken was particularly delicious on our recent visit, as was the fillet on the bone. Friendly... More

The owners have spared no expense in creating a wonderful garden that grows everything from artichokes to zucchini. It is enormous and a stroll around is strongly recommended. The food, despite being fresh from the garden, lets things down- it is perfectly edible, but not exciting at all. They've tried hard to re-invent basics (e.g. calamari salad, steak, lamb), but... The philosophy of Babel is a celebration of fresh food, grown in the garden, served in the restaurant. The starter plates are huge and can be shared. We had the orange and green plates, laden with fruit and vegetables from the garden, squid and halloumi. For mains there was trout and fillet on the bone. The portions are huge, so... More

First we took the garden tour (bookings are a must) and were amazed by how a liberal application of taste, design, money, and labour has developed an impressive garden with huge climatic and species variety in ten short years. You will feel quite depressed about your own poor herb garden attempts, and inspired to have your own orchard in which... More

In this lovely garden you can have lunch until 4pm. The soup and salads were outstanding. Try also the garden tour at 10am.

We had dinner her twice during our two nights stay. This is unusual since we hardly ever do so as we want to experience new and different things when we travel. The food is superb and only the freshest of the freshest ingredients are used - we know this since we went with the chef to pick them ourselves. The... More

This is not your restaurant.... This is not your venue.... This is what you have been missing, this is whete the hunger you never knew you had... Is satiated. You WILL start the experience with a late afternoon stroll through the garden, from which the restaurant draws all its produce.... Sample, explore, touch, smell, taste... It is all there... Scientifically,... More

Awesome and very relaxing venue. Very good welcome and overall service especially from Ilke. The starters were incredible- fresh, crisp, straight from the garden and very interesting in taste combinations. Just too generous in size. One has to be very relaxed here because food service is very slow. Wait for main course neared the ridiculous. However, worth the wait but... More

Housed in an old cow shed, Babel is a wonderful mix of Cape Dutch architecture with contemporary glass walls that makes for a simple yet edgy environment in which to try our tasty yet often unconventional combinations. We have a farm-to-fork philosophy, which means we like to serve food that is seasonal and that reflects our "pick, clean and serve" approach. Because our menu is guided by what is available in the garden, our food always reflects the season, and so in summer we may serve you a yellow salad of pineapple, gooseberries, granadillas, yellow tomatoes and apricots while in winter a slow-cooked leg of lamb in red wine is more likely. Dessert subscribes to four flavours, namely salty, bitter, sweet and sour. And while our meals are creative, we don't like to tamper unduly with our food. Our meals are always clear in structure, so that fruit and vegetables gathered daily from the garden is often served with its skin on. Helpings are generous and depending on the weather you can take your meal in the glass-enclosed restaurant or under the plane trees in the courtyard.
