Our son loves to stop at Horst's whenever in town. Luckily, the last time he visited, he was able to get one of his favorites, the last one.

We loved visiting the Little Horst's Bakery in Madison. The staff was very friendly and even gave us a discount because we arrived later in the afternoon. Delicious and fresh baked goods!

Only once a year do we come down to Madison for a couple of nights but EVERY time this place is a must stop for breakfast. We only hit the pastry counter but it is always the freshest you can find. The staff is very...polite and helpful. We tend to eat in and watch how they treat everyone. Looking forward to our next trip down.More

Although we are told the donuts are great (don't know didn't have) the breakfast was terrible and the place just looked dirty as did the staff. They were nice enough but this place just misses the mark. I say this as I hope that the...owners of places will listen and grow their businesses into what people expect when coming to a historic quaint town or even whom reside there.More

Best doughnuts! Very, very good. The doughnuts are some of the best that I have ever eaten. Reasonably priced and they do offer a breakfast.

This bakery is a hidden gem! Love these donuts - the glazed ones melt in your mouth. If you visit Madison, IN (and you should!) go early to get a good selection because they disappear quickly!!!!!

The restaurant is right on Main Street in an original shotgun house, so named for the narrow frontage and long length. It is very small inside but very cozy and decorated in German clocks and Christmas houses. My husband and I liked our egg and...ham breakfast with hashbrowns very much with generous portions and tasty flavors. Our only disappointment were the pancakes that lacked any flavor. I would recommend that they purchase MALTED pancake mix like Meijer sells because it adds a lot of flavor. We would definitely go back again. Also they had good coffee and service.More

I could tell you about the donuts, but there is no doubt they are great. It is worth stopping here just for the donuts, enough people mention that as well. It is small, crowded, cheap and good food... exactly what you want if your a...non-local and want local... what nice change. Cute German nut crackers and cuckoo clocks all over and some interesting news papers on the wall.... what's not to like. I would say that the breakfast is good and average if you were there for the normal stuff. But if you wanted to try something special and unique, get the goetta platter....wow, that is different. It was deliciously different. My advice is that you can't go here without getting the goetta meat with breakfast and the donuts. Learn about the Horst story and enjoy the crowded, locals stop restaurant. I won't go into all the details, but it wasn't long before I was talking and even "helping" the locals with some phone issues and advice. I would liked to have stayed longer. It felt a little like a bed and breakfast without the bed. Definitely stop here and put up with a little comfortable uncomforableness, it did me good as I was no longer in 2016 even if for just a little while. Be prepared to put the tip in the jar and not on your card, so good to have a little extra cash. Fun funMore
