A restaurant without a price on the menu??? We visited the place after it was recommended from the tv show. We tried the Niki special and had high expectation...although there was more thick slices of gyro meat, there was only a small thin burger.in it.just...ok. Ordered a small fries, it was plentiful for the price and crispy. The place was very small, luckily it was raining and it was not packed. We had to ask for prices for every dishes- Just an ok placeMore

We walked into Chuckwagon for the first time, yesterday. We were looking for a spot close to the Northwestern baseball field. As the team trickled in, all 25 of us, neither the young man working the counter nor the cook were flustered at all. He...took everyone's order, and the gyros started coming. Because there were so many of us, we were told to take our food and come back to pay later. (Very trusting). We all enjoyed the meaty gyros, which were outstanding, and we appreciated the approach the restaurant took to accommodate all of us.More

Gyros & Fries taste the same as they did in the 70's. Was pleasantly surprised to know that nothing but the Owners has changed at this quaint " Greasy Spoon". We all got gyros & fries and weren't disappointed in the least bit. Serving size...is perfect. Flavors tasty, atmosphere as to be expected.More

If a person is looking for that great comfort food of a cheese burger and fries, or Gyros and the fixings, this is the place to visit in downtown Wilmette. There is only bar seating which adds to the "flavor" of the place and allows...you to chat with other customers. The milk shakes are great, too.More

I grew up in Wilmette but now live near Los Angeles and this place still beats anything we have in California. I have literally been coming here since it opened back in 1975 so my family and I make a pilgrimage for gyros each time...we visit once a year. It is such a tiny place but every aspect of this diner is executed perfectly - they even have sweet potato fries along with various hot dog, hamburger and gyro combinations (and I do mean multiple types of meat on the same sandwich). The prices are very reasonable (10 stools = low overhead!) but the portions are much bigger than any other gyro place I have frequented (and that would include all over the US and even Israel) and the quality is just superb. Thank goodness many years ago a local pair of young adult entrepreneurs bought this place from the original owner's son and kept this tradition alive. Tony behind the grill really works hard (please tip him!). This is a must stop for families (you may have to get it to go) but a real bargain.More

You can't expect much but the food is tasty although greasy. Good for takeout since seating is limited to less than 10. Get the Nikki - a cheeseburger topped with gyros meat.

Chuck Wagon occupies a tiny space in downtown Wilmette. It turns out a high volume of burgers, gyros, dogs and fries, especially at lunchtime and especially in the summer. It tends to attract a male clientele but everyone is welcomed. The hamburger topped with gyros...meat is a favorite with my family. It has a great atmosphere too. It's a fun place to visit.More

Every once in awhile when I want something different I will come to the Chuck Wagon and get a Nikki Special. It is a burger with gyro meat on top. It is very small inside and I think it seats less than 15 people so...I recommend carry out. Nothing has changed much over the years and that includes the food. If your looking for healthy food this isn't the place for you, but if your looking for comfort food that is just tasty stop by when your in the area.More

Looking for a good gyros I entered this hole in the wall at the side of the wilmettes theater. Asked for a gyros, it was surprisingly tasty, with a great sauce, and a smily waiter. I would surely go back, the next time i would...give a chance to the burgers, they looked good.More
