While this is not the original Bishop's Chili location (18th St. and Damen Ave.), they still make the original recipe just like they used to. And they serve piping hot bowls of deliciousness with tiny oyster crackers on the side. Yum!

Well the signs say Happy 90th Year but I don't think you will see 100 years! Come on, warm beer and OVER $5.00 for a hot dog? Beer is less than the food and my guests thought 'Why did we even go there?" Bartender spent more time in the kitchen than he did at the bar. I usued to frequent... More

This chili IS different. It has been around in the Chicago area since the 1920's, and it is made without any tomato, paste, sauce, or any tomatoey thing...so don't compare it to a typical tomato based recipe or you will be in for a shock. Just enjoy it for the homegrown comfort food that it is...a bowl of beef/pork, onions,... More

Stopped in on a Tuesday, I had been wanting to try their chili for some time. It was OK, but I guess I expected more "chili" flavor. Price was good, but the bowl was small. $2 draft beer on Tuesday was a good deal. Don't understand why so many people rave about this place. Maybe they've never had real chili,... More

I have been eating Bishop's chili for 50 years. It doesn't get any better. There's nothing like a couple bowls of chili and a few beers.

Wonderful flavor. Best chili ever. I just did take out this time. But love love their chili. Love the vinegar pepper hit sauce and one of the few places that serve filberts root beer. Yum!

I've been enjoying Bishop's Chili for over 50 years starting at their original location in Chicago, and then on to Forest Park, North Riverside, and finally, the Last Bishop's Chili in Westmont. Fascinating history on how Bishop's started! I won't ruin the story. Visit Westmont, and enjoy a hot and tasty bowl of Bishop's Chili with mac during our bitter... More
