The fish tacos at E & S are the best kept secrets in the Fox Valley, if not in the entirety of Chicago's western suburbs. Among my friends there are other favorites, i.e. the tuna tower and a salad topped with your choice of fish....We also pick up fish at least once per week for cooking at home.More

We use to like the food. First time we went there for dinner. Nice and attentive but kept forgetting our orders, long waiting while other tables were served the food. Then did not bring the bread with the soup as we saw they did with...others. On top of this I am not sure risotto with 4 scallops well deserves $45.45. Not sure we will visit there any time soon.More

WE have loves this restaurant for years. Wonderful owners and wonderful food. Some changes. They have expanded in size. Staff was wonderful and attentive. The fish is high quality, but the preparation has suffered. We ordered crabcakes--they appeared to have been made in advance and...kept warm. The special sauce was a very small portion. Then we had halibut entree--and it was a thick piece that became dry and powdery--as if it had been sitting under a warmer for a bit. Oh dear. We will give wonderful E and S another try--but these changes are troubling.More

I've taken my family here a couple times after sampling their seafood at the summer farmer's market in Aurora. The meals are inventive, delicious, and beautifully presented. The owner is so friendly. I love that we can take some home to make ourselves although it's...hard to beat their cooking!More

Went for lunch, no reservations for lunchtime, BYOB. Had grilled grouper and friend had grilled trout. Fish was fresh and perfectly prepared. Friendly helpful staff. Small, informal dining room.

We've been here numerous times and now spend every special event here. Hands down you won't find better seafood around. Great atmosphere with music and open kitchen. Choose from fresh seafood counter and have it prepared the way you like. My wife loves the scallops...and I'm partial to the Chilean Sea Bass. This is a BYOB and you better have reservations!More

We were very fortunate to get a table at this place whilst on our trip to Chicago. Thankfully we were lucky, the fish is fresh, tasty and the meals are a great portion size. A family run establishment, this is a true gem of a...find if your lucky enough to get a table. Chilean Sea Bass was my choice and it’s probably some of the best food I ate whilst traveling to the US for some 10 years or more.More

Great place to eat oysters, fresh and tasty. The overall atmosphere is great for date night. Highly recommend this place. FYI bring your own bottle of wine, free of charge.

It truly looks like a seafood market, that had tables and a small open display kitchen was dropped in. I forgot to confirm, but I believe that’s how the evolution of this restaurant occurred. Anyway, there’s something kind of cool about this very simple, yet...intimate restaurant’s atmosphere and environment. The service was prompt and courteous, but the food was The star of the show. Plus, it’s a BYOB, which is a win all the way around. We opened with the tuna tower, which is fantastic. It’s a small tuna dish on top of a shaped tube of sushi rice , avocado, crabmeat, and other seasonings. The taste is out of this world. I then had the Chilean sea bass, but I had them put it on the plating and side dishes that come with the halibut. They are willing to mix any of the accompanying plate items, with any of the featured entrée proteins. It’s really cool that they do that. My wife had the Chilean sea bass with the items that normally come with it, and I may have actually liked her is a little bit more. I suspect the fish is as fresh as it’s going to get, since it comes from their display case where they sell it to the public. Additionally, if you don’t like any of the entrées offered, you can pick any fish out of the case, and they will prepare it as you like. Very rare to come across a restaurant with those kind of options. The menu is somewhat limited, but I suspect most people will find a fish that they enjoy on this menu. You will need reservations, and plan to spend between 70 and $90 a couple.More

They had a good selection of fresh fish and we stopped in for lunch. I was going to go with the Grouper sandwich but I chose the fish tacos instead. I should have gone with the Grouper as the Tacos were just ok and very...skimpy on the fish. And rather small plates for the price. I love Lobster Bisque and they had a Shrimp Bisque that was pretty much tasteless with no Shrimp anywhere to be found and I sent it back. There were 3 of us there and only the person with the Grouper Sandwich was satisfied. We did not get a great feel for this place but we did get there right when they opened and will give this place another try. IMore

This a seafood market serving lunch and dinner on weekends. We loved it. No pretensions, just excellently prepared fresh seafood. My Chilean sea bass was outstanding, perfectly broiled, exquisitely seasoned, and served right from the grill. We dined on a Friday night and a 50's,...60's pop music singer entertained us. Wonderful evening and we will return. It is BYOB so you can enjoy your favorite beverage and there is no corking fee. Reservations are a must.More

If you just want great seafood, this is a great choice. While they're open for lunch and dinner, you must have a reservation at dinnertime. However, this restaurant has NO atmosphere/ambiance. If you think you're eating in a meat market, it's because you are. Still,...they offer a large selection of fresh fish.More

We came for lunch and were very pleased! Fresh fish market and the food is cooked right in the dining room which is fun for the kiddos! Fish tacos, Chilean sea bass sandwich, seafood chowder and the grouper entree with fresh veggies were all wonderful!

I just stopped in to get a bowl of seafood chowder and it was pretty good. It had plenty of fish, but some pieces had that slightly fishy taste that can happen when "dark"fish meat is used. So, I would go back, but .maybe stick...with a filet.More

I wanted this to be better as the ingredients in the case are so great looking. Fish portions small but very tasty with tiny side of vegetables. Crab shrimp was tuff & overcooked and certainly not what is display case .Very disappointed. Red fish chowder...soup was very nice.More
