I’m sure the place is great but it’s closed til August 24th for vacation. I will be nice and give 3 stars. Looks like a cute place! However we drove all the way from Schaumburg as they have great ratings and good menu unfortunately they...had a sign taped up on the door saying they are on vacation until August 24th! I wish they would have posted this on their Yelp and google maps site (updated hours). Waste of time and gas!More
I went Chef Abdul 's for the first time on Mother's Day with my 2 adult boys. We tried the combination plates, lentil soup, humus, raisin soda, coffee and dessert. I can't say enough the food was fantastic . The service was great too. THE...BEST MEAL I'VE HAD AT A RESTAURANT IN A LONG TIME!More
Small restaurant with enourmously friendly service. We were treated so special as we asked about the dishes since we never had mediterranean food. We even had the pleasure of meeting Chef Abdul who treated us with a special desert. If you have never tried mediterranean...food, you are truly missing out. We had the combo appetizer which was a lot of food. My favorite was the falafel it is fried and oh so fresh and delicious. We had grape leaves that were similar to cabbage rolls except an awesome flavor. I really can't say enough about the food. It all tasted so fresh. We did find they made everything in house. Oh did I mention hummus that was so creamy and delicious. This is definitely a place that we are going back to. It is close to Kane county flea market. Don't miss out on fabulous food.More
Tried it for the 1st time today, and am so impressed! The veggie falafel was delicious. I was delayed getting to my lunch, and even lukewarm the fries were tasty. So I was just looking on a different websites for best food near me. I have traveled the world, so lemme just say. Wow. Very casual. Felt joy the minute we walked in the door. This small and causal nook in the middle of a...shopping center created a smile from the moment we walked in. The menu was authentic as you can get. The food was just as authentic. But one added thing - spice and spirit. The soul of this place and it's family, added to the authentic quality of this fantastic food cannot be matched. All I can say is go. Go say hi, eat the food, meet the family, and you'll see what I mean. Nothing over-spiced. This family can cook! Dates. Baklava. Teas. Hummus. Real hummus. Sauces like "da bomb." The hot sauce and mango sauces with crunch chips. I can't say enough.More
I have actually been here twice now. The food is fantastic. Everything is homemade and served with such open-hearted goodness that it is truly a pleasure to visit the place. I got the chicken schwarma both times because I enjoyed it so much the first...time. The stuffed dates are *to die for*. And the falafel is perfect. My son comes home later this month, and I have promised to bring him there. He is greatly anticipating the trip :)More
Somehow my wife heard about this new restaurant and took me there for takeout last night. It's difficult to see from the street as it faces the parking lot and there's no sign on the back (street side) of the building. The place isn't big...inside - there are only 6 or 7 tables. We ordered the chicken schawarma and a hummus appetizer (not knowing that the entree came with soup). As we waited they offered us some of chef's juice made with blueberries, black currant, and caramel syrup. It was good. Then chef gave us 2 pieces of baklava, which we took home but haven't tried yet. Then he came by and gave us 2 pieces of banana bread (which we also haven't tried yet). Then they threw in a zucchini soup to go along with our lentil soup. We had so much food that we saved one order of chicken shawarma for tonight's dinner. Now on to rating the food: the lentil soup was good, the zucchini soup was fantastic (and I'm not a fan of zucchini), the hummus was good, the falafel that came with the schwarma was great (probably the best I've had), and the chicken shawarma was excellent. The folks there were all very friendly. The decor was nice. And the prices were quite reasonable (it was actually unbelievable when you consider how much food we got). We'll be back soon.More
