We had a wonderful time on Easter. The menu had ample selections for the $45.00 price fixed option. Every course was better than our expectations. Our server was also a pleasure. They are updating their wine list, so all selections weren't available, but our waiter recommended a French sparkling rose that was perfect with our meals. Wish this place was... More
Normally I am not one to like cuisine dishes. I don't see the need for artistic food. Food is food. But here at Retro Bistro the plates of food were appealing visually and there was enough to full my tummy and entice my taste buds. I had a tilapia dish that was gluten free and tasted just as good the... More
This restaurant has a bunch of happy hour specials if you eat in the bar area. The crab cake and risotto appetizers were really good. It's hard to find food around here that actually makes you feel like you could be in New Orleans. The creole sauce on the risotto did just that.. it was excellent. The beef carpaccio was... More
Went out for dinner with a friend on a "school night" - just to get out and catch up. I have been to Retro Bistro several times; it was her first visit. She loved the size and decor of the restaurant. Its a smaller restaurant, which keeps the volume down and the personalization higher. We initially were considering the price... More
This little French bistro has been around for about 40 years and is still a pleasure to visit. In addition to a full menu, they offer themed prix-fixe meals that are always a good value. It's on the higher end of my price range, but not exorbitant--about $40/person without drinks. It's great for dates, special occasions, even business. Reservations are... More
We had excellent food and service at Retro Bistro, located in a Mount Prospect strip mall. We visited the weekend after Valentine's Day. The restaurant was simply decorated with red balloons throughout and was still offering a fixed price 3-course menu for $45 per person. Two of our group selected the fixed price menu, and two of us ordered off... More
Had a delightful dinner last night with friends @ Retro Bistro. Ordered the price fix menu and everything was delicious. Service was friendly and attentive without being pushy. Prices were right for this type of place. Will be back again very soon. Every one @our table said the same.
This is a tiny French bistro with an aggressive menu and excellent add ons. The wine list is impressive and more than works with the introductory cheese platters and jams. The whitefish is excellent and comes in a large portion. Service is wonderful and there are frequent plates of additional snacks brought around for sampling.
