Generous portions of stick-to-the-ribs Bohemian staples, i. e. Roast Duck, Breaded Pork, etc. were well prepared. Service was friendly and efficient. My issue is the vibe. The entrance takes you through a very large bar area. The locals at the bar usually turn around on their stools to see who's coming in. I like bars and I like locals, just... More

I've been to many Bohemian/American restaurants and have to say that this one has the best roast duck around. Nothing like a cold Warsteiner beer and a roast duck dinner. The other food is good also, but the rye bread looks like store bought and not homemade.

Excellent ethnic dining. The dumplings are to die for....highly recommend. This is a family run establishment and the food shows that. It is like home made just for you. The desserts are great also...if you have room for dessert than is.

Second visit while in Chicago area. The breaded pork tenderloin was hot and fresh and enough for two to share. The dumplings and cabbage were a great accompaniment! Amazing goulash soup to start and the Apple strudel finish left this girl happy and satisfied!

We have never gone to this Bohemian restaurant before and we thought we would give it a try. It is hard to find a good Bohemian restaurant. This is my second favorite Bohemian restaurant! The atmosphere isn't fancy. When you first enter the establishment, you enter the bar area. The dining area is behind the bar. I had the best... More

The place is clean however dated. The goulash was more tender beef chunks in brown gravy with bread slices... Which I was told are dumplings. The menu is full of comfort dishes and prices are reasonable portions are generous.

I always read reviews before I go to eat somewhere new. The decor needs updating but the food was a little above average and a little below very good. I am new to Czech/Bohemian food. The rye bread was outstanding which was served in a bread basket. The chicken and rice soup seemed a little weak in flavor. The breaded... More

The dumplings are wonderful along with the rye bread. I suggest the guolosh and the Breaded veal. The décor needs a total overhaul, but the prices are very reasonable. If you like Czech food, you will not be disappointed.

Standard Bohemian comfort food that you will be challenged to finish. Décor was plain but not as bad as some of these reviews would lead you to believe and the bathroom was fine. This place was "Bella's" about 30 years ago for those who go "way back". In a rather seedy McCook neighborhood with a massage parlor next door and... More

Want to sample good, old Bohemian, comfort food at a restaurant that offers quality and quantity at a reasonable price? Then the McCook Bohemian American Family Restaurant is for you. I have gone there on numerous occasions with family and friends and have always departed satisfied. The decor is bare bones but it is the duck I am after. It... More
