A trip to Moonshine is truly an unusual cultural experience and step back in time. I would highly recommend the experience to anyone visiting southeastern Illinois. It is the kind of place that is filled with nostalgia of the past. Friendly people and down home...More

Nothing fancy here, but some really good hamburgers and a warm welcome to everyone. Located in an old country store in the middle of farmland and miles from the nearest town, the ladies originally opened to give the locals a place to go for lunch....More

Hard to imagine there are many places that serve better burgers than the Moonshine Store. Certainly not the easiest place to find, but it is well worth the trip. Large, hand-packed burgers with just the right amount of grease from the grill. Orders quickly filled,...More

Very friendly and fast service, but I honestly don't understand the hype surrounding these burgers. The burgers are huge, but are sans any kind of seasoning, which creates a bland flavor. If we are in the area again, we will stop by to support a...More

On a recent trip to Southern Illinois, my cousins took me here for lunch. Although this tiny grocery store/restaurant is way out on back country roads, people come from miles away to eat here. The store is small, but get in line, place your order,...More

I've had burgers all over the country and the Moonburger is one of the best! Hand-packed and grilled perfectly. In winter you have to sit on long benches inside if you're lucky enough to snag a spot. In good weather take a seat on a...More

Small old grocery store and grill that people come from miles around to eat at. Not a lot of room inside so pick a sunny day when not raining as they have a lot of picnic tables outside. Antique items adorn the walls and good...More

A few family members and myself have been here numerous times since our first time back in October of 2014. Haven't had a bad experience yet. Good food too! Nothing fancy, but that's what we like. Grab a burger or fried bologna sandwich then find...More

Who would have thought that you could find a fabulous, amazing home cooked burger in the middle of farm land in southern Illinois ... Oh so glad we picked up brochure while visiting Casey, IL ❤️ Every car headed down the long farm roads was...More

Moonshine is open Monday thru Saturday 6am to 1pm. It is closed on Sunday. We also ended up on a gravel road. You can call an ask, if there is a better way to get there. Hope this helps.
