Couldn’t figure out why pony rides were offered until the mariachi band arrived and Cinco de Mayo dawned on us! Despite the 30 minute wait for our food, the Mexican fries with chicken and mole sauce was decadent and delicious.... fries covered in cheese, green...onions, mole sauce and shredded chicken! My buddy had a burger, fries and a shake and was also a happy camper. Definitely will return, just not on a holiday......More

Enjoy the Hotdog, can't recommend the Gyro as it isn't good...Sorry but it's the truth. Milk Shake is good, fast food good for small children meal is ideal.

I got the special of the day which was the jumbo mean wiener with fries. The wieners are definitely jumbo. The wiener was definitely worth the price I paid and along with the fries, I was sufficiently filled up. Kind of a cozy place with...a convenient set up for a quick bite. I highly recommend this place if you crave a wiener and you are in the area.More

Don’t let anyone fool you. Mean Weiner is one of the best Mexican restaurants on the north shore. Delicious Mexican street food with high quality ingredients and great salsas. Large portions. Amazing steak tacos and legit Elotes.

...when looking for carryout lunch. Why? Because their brand-named Jumbo Mean Weiner (the middle size) smothered in French fries is an inexpensive and filling meal. Turnaround from order to walking out to my car has dramatically improved from when the place opened, not under Once...Upon A management. My wife enjoys their Fish Taco Platter when she joins me for an indulgence. And I get it on a French roll with both raw and grilled onions with no upcharges. Want a bigger meal? Tuesday's special is the Meanest Weiner at a discount price, but you'd better be really hungry.More

The food is fresh and good quality . More like a High end clean fast food restaurant. A mix of American and Mexican and innovative sandwiches. The quality is above fast food. It's just good.

Have eaten here a few times and enjoyed the encased meats - we found the dogs nicely charred but the buns a bit bready.... usual fixins.....Fries were above average and tasty. This time I had Papas Philly which was a combo of Italian beef, melted...cheese and giardinara..... very tasty and high quality meat. Much different thankfully, than a philly cheese steak sandwich! Perhaps trying the Mexican menu would be an even better choice but then why is it called Mean Wiener? I’ll be back.More

Just wanted to update my review, I still dine at the Mean Weiner. It's quality of food remains consistent. I think that's attributed to the "grumpy" owner. He is also very nit picky about his restaurants being super clean. Poor food quality and dirty restaurants...are just NOT acceptable and that's why I appreciate "grumpy owner" and his attention to details.. The Weiner also offers: burgers, tacos, tostados, platters, gyros and an array of really unique ice cold beverages and hand made local ice cream bars. Super affordable! Large Portions!More

Don't be fooled- the Mexican food here is the real deal. They seriously know what they're doing. The enchiladas and tacos are bomb- we've had them multiple times. Our friend had the California Double Dog and he said it was one of the *best* things...he'd *ever* eaten. Seriously! Also had the elote and it was SO good, but I think it's a special so may not be there all the time.More

We only tried the jumbo dogs and fries and were not impressed. The buns were more like those used for Italian beef, too bready, and heavy. The dogs were nicely charred and covered well with the usual condiments. Fries were average and tasty. Perhaps trying...the Mexican menu would be a better choice but then why is it called Mean Wiener?More

...because one sandwich with fries destroys my calories for that day. Still, I cheated and had one of their Mean Weiners a couple of weeks ago. Loaded with french fries on top, the wrapped bundle (I carried out) was a treasure to be savored. I...love the crunch as my teeth pierce the skin of the dog and the juices invade my taste buds. Nuts! Now I want to go there tomorrow for lunch.More

I went here with my family, and I ordered a cheeseburger, and it was really good. It was much better than any burger from McDonald's. My sister got a taco, and I tried it, and it was also really good. The service is great, and...you pretty much can't go wrong with eating anything on the menu, it is great, and the staff is also really friendly. It is a great stop for lunch pr dinner of you are going through Highwood.More

Found out many visit this spot for Mexican (fast) food. First time I️ visited I️ had enchiladas and wasn’t impressed. Second time I️ had tacos and they were very good. Fish and veggie tacos were tasty. Others I’ve eaten with like beef and shrimp too....Guacamole is ok. Salsa that comes with chips worlds better than salsa that comes with meal in small plastic containers.More

People raved about Taco Wednesday but not for us. The price went up to 1.95 each and had such meager meat portions and next to nothing in toppings. Two bite tacos and left hungry.Order taker/cashier seemed to be perturbed about questions even after telling her...it was our first time there and made a special trip just to go there! Probably should have had a hot dog. Clean inside and nice photos on the wall. Cute logo and staff t shirts but that was it. Too bad we wanted to like this place as has a boat on the nearby harbor.More

In an ocean of bland and generic fast food outlets, it is always refreshing to eat at locally owned food joints. Now, if you prefer gluten free, organic, tofu and such thus probably not the best choice for lunch. If you want good quality, full...of bad stuff comfort food, hamburgers, hot dogs (I had the meanest weiner) burritos, etc. Go here. All double entendres aside, the meanest wiener was a 14 bunch all beef sausage on a French roll that you can load up with everything but the kitchen sink. Highly recommend. Parking is a pain and the place is packed at lunch time. However the staff is fast and corteous which more than makes up for those minor inconveniences.More
