When we arrived, we were promptly seated and our server was right on us. Since we hadn’t been here before, we had a few questions. She was very accommodating but was in a real hurry. In fact I asked if I could have a Diet...Coke and she just nodded as she ran off. We got our food which was very good! But, halfway through the meal, our waters and soda were empty. We were rubbernecking trying to find our server but she was nowhere to be found. After 15 minutes of wasting time looking around, instead of focusing on my wife like I would’ve rather, I asked the hostess. She got our drinks, but the food was cold by now. We finished eating, but then STILL never saw our server. Not only did she not even stop by after bringing the food, but the servers serving the tables behind us and next to us (two different ladies), didn’t even notice we were rubbernecking for so long. We waited 20 more minutes and still no server. Being right by the door, we could’ve walked right out without anyone noticing. Very unfortunate. I was able to flag down the hostess and she went to find out server. She cane back twice asking what she looked like. It was total confusion. Finally, the hostess brought our check and then we had to wait in line because the group in front at the register was disputing their check. As we were leaving, there were several other tables rubbernecking like crazy, just wanting to pay and get on with their evening. Bottom line, the food was great! But I cannot fathom having to constantly try to shag someone down for every little thing. It’s all a reflection on management. I can see a server losing track of a table, but none of the other servers, hostess, or managers noticed that not only we were looking around, but several other tables. Fortunately, there are two other Tacos El Norte in Round Lake and Waukegan. We’ll try them next time.More

We came here for lunch, hoping for a quick bite. The music was pretty loud with heavy bass which made it really hard to have a conversation. The chips were cold and tasted stale. The service was pretty slow and poor quality as they rarely...ever came back to check on us. When we finally got our food I did think the taco flavors were very good (hence the 2 stars instead of 1). However partway through the taco I found 2 large chicken bones amongst the meat. It was a bit of a turn-off. Overall, I do not recommend this place as it was both slow and had poor quality food and service.More

We ordered steak taco salad. There was very little lettuce in the salad. Dont get me wrong there was steak and all the extras. But where was the salad? The service was ok. We usually go to the Waukegan location. Where in sorry to say...is a 5+. But overall was a good atmosphere and good food.More

My wife and I dine here frequently. The food is always very good and so are the margaritas. I usually get the enchiladas and my wife usually has tacos. It's out choice for authentic Mexican.

I love this place. Not much in the way of ambiance but really good, reasonable & tasty Mexican food. I've tried several of the tacos which were great. Tamales are outstanding. Steak burrito is really as big as your head. Guacamole also is a star....Margaritas are large & cheap. If you are in the area. it's definitely worth a try.More

This was the first time I ate here. My wife are here about a week ago and liked it so i tried it with her today. I was pleasantly surprised. Food was really good. I had the chicken fajitas. Tons of chicken and very tasty....The hot sauce they make on the table was delicious. Chips and salsa to start. Very authentic. Service was very good and our food came out really fast. We have been to Tacos El Norte a few times. The food is always good, especially the guacamole. On Saturday's there is live music. There was a roving mariachi band when we were there. It was a family of 5 and it definitely added to...the atmosphere. On the weekends they have a special platter for 2 people. It has a variety of meats and vegetables and is delicious. Both my husband and I ate plenty and yet there was still enough for both of us to have for lunch the next day. I can't remember the exact price, but it was very reasonable.More

Each time I have visited the serving staff has been attentive and service has been prompt. The portions are more than adequate and the salsa choices are very tasty. The beer options are good and prices are fair. Live music at times.

Good food and good prices. Food is always consistently good. Call ahead for fast pick up. You won't be disappointed.

I checked some reviews and they were mediocre at best and alluded to high prices. I have to say, I am glad I came. Great service at the bar. You can see the entire kitchen. Food was very good with large portions. And as far...as the price.....they had to roll me out and I had two beers and still came in under $20.More
