First time visit. We were a party of 6 with resv and sat outside by our request. Server was good, pleasant, and handled everything well. Food was excellent and plentiful. Not cheap by any means but not overpriced, Would I return? Absolutely.

I would have given it 4-5 stars if the wait staff were wearing masks. Since this is Illinois, not Texas or Florida, I expect the wait staff to wear masks. We chose the restaurant for 2 reasons: we saw many people already eating there at...4:30pm; and it has outdoor seating. The outdoor seating arrangement at the entrance, which is a few steps down from the sidewalk level, is tightly packed with small tables. I didn't feel comfortable sitting so close to other tables, so I chose the picnic style tables at the street level. But when the waitress showed up without mask, my heart just sank. 3 of us adults are fully vaccinated, but our 3 young children, all under 12, are not. So we cannot take a chance. The food was delicious, but the non mask wearing just made me feel very uncomfortable, which ruins the experience for me. I don't advise ordering the Chicken Marsala. The chicken was under seasoned and overcooked. The spread with honeycomb and fig jam appetizer was excellent. All the salmon dishes were great. BTW, we later saw that Not a single person in this restaurant, whether they are staff or customers, were wearing a mask. And this is at the height of the Delta variant!More

You never know where or when you are going to discover a fine dining restaurant, even in restaurant happy Chicago. I once lived in west suburban Wheaton and Glen Ellyn but my wife and I have lived in downtown Chicago since 1976. In our retirement,...we are becoming reacquainted with the best suburban restaurants, including eateries that have opened in the last few years. Like Livia Italian Eatery in Geneva, which opened in 2017. Located at 207 South 3rd Street, south of State Street, it offers northern Italian cuisine in an intimate, modern venue with a full-service bar and outdoor seating. Open from 11 to 9 Sunday through Wednesday and 11 to 10 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Livia features what every quality Italian ristorante should feature...and then some. This is a hidden gem that deserves more props. Check previous reviews. All positive, lunch or dinner. My wife and I chose dinner. We started with veal meatballs, lobster bisque, Tuscan shrimp and Caesar salad with romaine, tomatoes, croutons, lemon and black pepper. How about these dishes for house specialties? My wife was delighted with New Zealand lamb chops with roasted vegetables, whipped potatoes, veal demi glaze and gorgonzola crusted. I was equally pleased with my filet duo, two four-ounce medallions of beef with whipped potatoes, romano crusted tomato, roasted vegetables and rosemary demi glaze. The traditional spaghetti and meatballs and lasagna will have to wait. For dessert, we shared portions of tiramisu and ricotta cheesecake.More

My friend and I ate lunch at Livia's and loved the outdoor seating. I had Maryland crabcakes and shrimp and my friend had lasagna. The food was delicious and the service was very good too. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Stopped in for lunch today with friends. I ordered the Kale & Farro salad with grilled chicken breast. It included roasted butternut squash, dried cranberries, pecans, apple and delicious dressing. I’ve been wanting to try farro, and this was so delicious ( even loved the...kale ( tender & thinly sliced ) One friend had her favorite - blackened salmon salad with kale & quinoa, and the other ordered a flatbread with tomatoes & arugula. We enjoyed our selections Marie was our server, so sweet & attentive ! Thank you for taking great care of us todayMore

All in all a pretty good choice for lunch that Saturday afternoon. The burger and the flatbread were great. Service was also very good ... very friendly and effective. The one drawback is the igloos outside have a lot of wear and tear and aren’t...in as good a condition as one might like. But that wasn’t a problem for us - four adults and a small child with stroller.More

We ate here on a couple’s date for Valentine’s Day weekend. It was the coldest day so far and we were first put in the igloo type tents outside. We were freezing so they let us eat a table inside. Unfortunately, we were seated near...the door and we froze. We all bundled up in our coats and made the best of the it. The manager did give us a free bottle of wine for the inconvenience, which was so nice of her to do that. The staff was amazing and so were the patrons. A couple we met while waiting at the bar bought us a round of drinks! Super nice couple, if you are out there, thank you all! I HIGHLY recommend the eggplant shrimp appetizer. It was absolutely delicious. We will definitely come back when it’s warmer out.More

It was very nice to see this restaurant open and following all the recommended guidelines for covid safety. As usual the martini was excellent and the service great. Hope to come back for a nice sit down dinner.

We had a good meal but were at a picnic bench type table along third street, so noisy with traffic and not as comfortable as regular table. A Covid issue and glad restaurant busy as have excellent food and service.

We met good friends for dinner.at Livia last weekend and I had a very disappointing experience. The rest of our group fared better than I did. First of all, our server was GREAT - I think her name was Nina. And as I mentioned, the...other three members of our group were quite happy with their dinners. Unfortunately, we all ordered the same thing so I was easily able to compare. We have been to Livia before - the restaurant is noisy and the tables are jammed together so it is very tight. That's OK if the food is good. Starting with cocktails - for $12, I got about an ounce and a half of bourbon. At St. Charles Place in St. Charles, I get about 4 ounces for $10. Kind of a rip off. Then came dinner - four orders of roasted salmon on succotash. I will say the salmon was fresh and cooked well but my piece of salmon was half the size of the salmon on the other three dishes. I have been telling friends that I got filet of minnow. On top of that, there was no succotash on my plate - just a thin broth with a few pebbles of cous cous. No veggies. The other three plates were loaded with veggies and cous cous. It's like they ran our of salmon and succotash just before they cooked my dinner. Very disappointing. We won't be hurrying back. We all ordered roasted salmonMore

Had a wonderful lunch with a couple who came in from Rockford to meet us coming up from Aurora, but we were practically alone in the dining room. Of course, it was early lunch time, and the weather outside was threatening. But the four of...us had an excellent meal accompanied by generous libations. Three of us enjoyed pasta dishes, and the fourth enjoyed the vegan appetizers. The restaurant had been recommended by a local furniture dealer, and the man knew what he was talking about. The place is not huge, but divided into two sections with comfortable booths and tables on each side of a bar area where food can be served for singletons. The decor is relatively plain and nothing to remind anyone of the more glitzy places downtown Chicago. But the food is very, very good and worth a special trip for those outside the Geneva area.More

A classy Italian eatery takes the spot once held by Chianti on third street in Geneva. ( Chianti moved next door ). The decor is a modern industrial look so common these days; rough hewn brick walls and exposed duct work in the ceiling. Our...server Josh was uber friendly. But the food takes the spotlight here. I had the Shrimp fra Diavolo and it brought the heat, let me tell you. It made my scalp sweat and my tongue burn and I loved it. My wife had the more subdued Chicken Milanese. I had a taste and it was equally delicious. The wine list is extensive. I recommend the Super Tuscan. Only gripe, no bread and olive oil on the table that is so typical of Italian eateries. Maybe next time I'll ask.More
