Several years ago, Blue Island High School's class of 1958, of which my wife and I are devoted members, held a reunion of classmates living in the south suburbs at Francesca's Fortunato in Frankfort. It was a rousing success. Recalling that experience, my wife and...I recently revisited the Italian restaurant. Another rousing success. Located at 40 Kansas Street, it is open from 11:30 to 9 Monday through Thursday, 11:30 to 10 on Friday and Saturday and 11:30 to 8 on Sunday. Founded in 1991 by restauranteur Scott Harris, Francesca's Restaurant Group has grown from a small Italian eatery on North Clark Street in Chicago to a restaurant group of six concepts and 25 locations in two states. There are 10 locations in the Chicago area. Francesca's is a rousing success because it offers a delicious cuisine inspired by Rome and surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. We started with bruschetta with garlic toast, tomatoes basil and fresh mozzarella and Caesar salad with roasted peppers, garlic croutons and shaved parmesan. For an entree, my wife chose veal medallions with crispy pancetta, eggplant, zucchini and roasted potatoes finished with a veal glace and sauteed spinach. I opted for roasted salmon with jumbo shrimp, green beans, roasted plum tomatoes and lobster cream sauce. For dessert, we shared profiteroles with pistachio gelato and chocolate sauce and a Sloppy Sundae with Italian ice cream, vanilla bean gelato, chocolate sauce, candied pecans, whipped cream and a cherry.More

My credit card statement was for $6 more than what I signed for at the restaurant. I called and spoke to the restaurant manager who told me the waiter thought my $10 tip was $16, the zero looked like a 6. Said they would credit...me the $6 but “it had to go through corporate”. In the meantime I had emailed the situation through the Francescas’s website so corporate was aware of the situation. Nobody called or email me to acknowledge the credit. Four days later I called corporate who put it back on the restaurant manager. So I called my credit card company to dispute the charge. Something is wrong here. Goodbye FrancescasMore

We dined under their tent outside. Lovely. Food was sooo fresh and flavorful that I loved it more than any previous visits. Spinach ravioli with tomato sauce, linguine Genovese ) (pasta, jumbo sautéed shrimp, sliced potatoes, French green beans, all tossed in a light basil...pesto oil), buratta salad with farm fresh cherry tomatoes, Caeser salad. It was ALL fabulous. Plus we were happy to find our favorite waitress is back! Service very good. It was our anniversary and the chef sent out a complimentary tiramisu. Highly recommend this Francesca's!More

The food was great, but what really made it incredible was the attention to detail that Max the manager gave us. Service and food were great!!!

Visited at 6:30 pm Sunday with a group of 6. The decor is nice, white tablecloth, handsome table setting. It seemed like the dinner crowd was on the way out so most tables in the main dinning room were empty. Could not figure out why...we were seated next to a foursome when there were more quite tables available. I had a pasta /salmon/ asparagus in vodka cream sauce. Sounds yummy.... no way. Very bland. Asked for some additional sauce to help it out... that didn't work, forced to add salt! Other unsatisfactory dishes at our table included squash stuffed gonchi tasting like over-cooked mushy dough and 1/4 chicken over-cooked or sitting under the heat lamp all day! We ordered two fairly good soups but our enjoyment of them was disrupted by premature service of the main course. Main course was disrupted by premature clearing of the table. Since this is fairly expensive restaurant you'd expect the staff to know the difference between "eating" and "dining".More

Fabulous chicken Caesar Salad. My entree was enough for 2. The restaurant let me modify the salad — adding roasted peppers and cucumbers. Best lunch I’ve had in a long time.

This is a local restaurant that has a limited menu, very loud ambiance on weekends and some outrageous wine prices. They recently increased their “house” pinot from $9.00 to $18.00 per glass. Are you kidding me? And didn’t find out til I got the bill.

dinner recommended .The appetizer portions during happy hour were large. We ordered 3 items....the meat balls, carpaccio, and the mussels. We were so full we did not need to order more food.... can not wait to go back for another round!

We went first one day for lunch as we wondered whether it was the same kind of restaurant than "Francesca on 95th" in Oak Lawn, IL. It is. We returned a second time with a guest for dinner. The menu cards are different for lunch...and dinner. Our guest loved the place as much as we did. It doesn't matter which plate you choose, there shouldn't be any bad surprises. There is a side entrance for people with limited mobility, allowing a wheelchair access as the main entrance has a revolving door.More

Joseph-This place is great! I have even asked for an item (fish Vesuvio) I've had in the past and not on the menu! They are more than happy to accommodate your needs. If the chef has all ingredients of course! I haven't... More

Neither. I am not a big pasta person. The problems I have at this place are not the food.
