I have been going to this restaurant for years and always found the food way beyond my expectations. Their tasting menus are to die for. This is no ordinary Italian restaurant. They no longer offer in person dining it is all pick up or delivery....When covid hit, they pivoted and turned the restaurant into a gourmet food and wine shop filled with all kinds of delicious homemade goodies. There are soups, sauces, cheeses, meat, sausages, wine, olives, gelato, sorbetto, pasta, pizza, home made bread, cookies and more. Just about anything you can find at Eataly you can find here and you will be supporting a local vendor. We stopped there today and picked up a full sheet seafood frutti di mare pizza topped with calamari, shrimp, mussels, Manila clam and octopus - it was soo good. They also had: sausage pizza with house made sausage and an amazing Sicilian pizza, sfincione. It is made with a special crust, onion-anchovy and oregano marmalade (Don't be afraid of the anchovy! ) and four special cheeses, then topped with crispy bread crumbs. They also have gluten free pasta and gluten free flour Hours Tuesday to Saturday 11:00am to 7pmMore

Although we live close by, for some reason we rarely go to Gaetano's. After last night's Chef Choice tasting menu, that will likely change. We were exposed to a large variety of the standard items and some specials from the menu, and were delighted by...the quality and taste. The Chef's Choice is described on the menu as a "4-course" tasting menu but last night we were served 6 courses -- 5 savory courses plus a dessert. The 5 savory courses consisted of 3 appetizer/antipasti courses, a pasta course, and a secondi. For the 2 of us, each savory course consisted of 2 items from the menu served family style. As is typical of tasting menus, some of the most pleasing dishes were items that we never would have ordered if we'd been choosing on our own, including: the dates stuffed with chorizo and a special shrimp & strawberry risotto, which was fabulously creamy. Other standouts included the beet carpaccio salad and a special antipasto of tuna tartarre served over quinoa, topped with shrimp. Dessert consisted of a sampler of 4 items -- of which, the tiramissu and bread pudding with dark chocolate sauce were the highlights. We also opted for the Reserve Wine Pairing. I believe that we received 7 glasses apiece - one each with each of the 5 savory and dessert courses, plus a glass of prosecco while we waited for the first course. Service was close to impeccable. Fresh silverware and plates with every course. Water refilled before we had a chance to even notice that it was getting low. Servers were all welcoming and warm. This was not a budget meal but it really was a good value for what was offered.More

There is no better place to experience true Italian cuisine (especially Sicilian) than here. The service, the ambience (even in the restrooms!) and the food make for an evening not to be forgotten.

Some colleagues and I had dinner here last evening. I had the Gnocchi di ricotta alla Norcina which is described as “Light and fluffy Ricotta gnocchi tossed with chicken, asparagus, sautéed with shallots, white wine, and truffle pesto drizzled with a touch of cream and...finished with Parmigiano” True to the description, the pasta was light and fluffy, and the sauce was so delicious I literally wanted to lick my plate! Best gnocchi I have ever had! Bravo!More

In 2011, owner/chef Gaetano Di Benedetto of Gaetano's in Forest Park was presented the distinguished "Ospitalita Italiana" award by the Italian government for his "authentic" Italian restaurant, an honor that only 600 restaurants worldwide have achieved. It figures. Gaetano's is unique with appetizers like crab...cake cannelloni dei Cesari or desserts like tiramisu and home-made limoncello. Located at 7636 Madison Street, Gaetano's specializes in old school Italian cooking with classic recipes. Opened in 1978, Gaetano's serves from 5 to 9:30 Monday through Thursday and 4:30 to 10:30 Friday and Saturday. My wife and I opted for the a la carte menu. We started with spicy shrimp bisque with house-made Italian sausage, baby mixed greens tossed with sliced tomatoes, cucumber and red onion with sweet mustard vinaigrette, caramelized almonds, crispy pasta and carrots, and shrimp sauteed with caramelized garlic, gorgonzola and a touch of cream served in a puff pastry. Can it get better than this? Yes. For entrees, we chose one of Gaetano's specialties, the veal chop stuffed with crab meat sauteed with garlic, shrimp, gorgonzola fondue served over mashed potatoes, and the provimi veal scaloppine sauteed with shallots, garlic, assorted wild and exotic mushrooms, soaked with Marsala-white wine sauce and served with mashed potatoes. For dessert, what else but tiramisu? For a fine dining experience at an Italian restaurant, it doesn't get any better than this.More

Me and my wife stumbled upon this place simply because our AirBNB was nearby. We wanted to celebrate a special occasion and decided to try the chef's menu. It was the best dinner we've ever had and we've dined at Michelin star restaurants before. Love...this place!More

YES, absolutely. In fact that was how we found this place the first time, for their exceptional hand-made GLUTEN FREE pasta. Their gluten-free pasta with red sauce is still hands-down the best we've ever had.
