Their remodeling job is done and the interior looks a lot better. Prices have creeped up a bit but the food is worth it. Generous portions of authentic cuisine- we especially love the salt n pepper shrimp and the Szechuan string beans. If I order pot stickers, I ask for extra crispy- try it- you will be a convert

Went on a Sunday for lunch with the kids. We were a little nervous when we stopped outside but as we stepped through the doors we had a lovely surprise. The inside is very nice and updated. Service was friendly and very quick. There weren’t many people in the restaurant so it was quiet and we could enjoy each other’s company. They served tea before the meal and we all enjoyed the fragrance and heat, as it was freezing rain outside. The crab Rangoons were delicious, we liked the spring rolls but have had better. We all tried a different dish and shared. All of us enjoyed our food and the portions were very generous. We were all surprised that there weren’t more people there. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and it’s extensive menu. Prices were comparable with other sit-down restaurants for a family of four.

Quality went downhill. Food that’s supposed to be served with bok choi now served with gross warm American lettuce. You could at least use green cabbage. Less ingredients being used and now not as flavorful. I came here for over 15 years but don’t know if I’ll come back.

Top quality Sichuan food in Downers Grove. The spice level is authentic and there are many options on the menu. The fatty beef in Green Peppercorn sauce is particularly good. Even the hit and sour soup is well above the norm.

I had been craving egg rolls and mentioned that earlier in the day while out geocaching. I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon these pemises. Approached from the side street and honestly it looked a bit like a hole-in-the-wall from the back but the interior was much nicer than i expected. Greeted and seated right away. Food was plentiful for the pricing and quality was excellent. More pleasantly surprised to find this little gem. Recommend. Will return.

Authentic Szechuan food, nice assortment of dishes. The food is freshly prepared - great option, directly off Ogden road, reasonably priced.

family owned. more authentic chinese, food is thus spicy, so y ou must ask them to tamper if you not into that. Food is good. I as a china born asian ordered the intestines and had it double fried. It was very delicious and very close to what I can get at home. place is the family style with no table cloth etc but price is very reasonable

For less than $8,one gets a small egg roll, choice of soup, fried or white rice, an entree and tea- a good deal. All the standards are there and service is quick- worth a try . We liked the salt and pepper shrimp and the Sichuan string beans.

Love this place. Their spicy beef szechuan noodles are so good especially during winter and their dpible cooked dry intestines are the best! A must try for some spicy food!

the review we read did not lead us astray. the food was great, the service attentive and the prices were good. we figured we had found a good spot for Chinese when the parking lot was near full and most of the diners were Asian. it exceeded our expectations!

Quick courteous service. Good spot for time sensitive lunch during work week. Reasonably priced. Food is fresh, a bit spicy, but good.

I went to this restaurant twice for dinner and once for lunch. Dinner was fine. I think the dishes were a bit over priced for the amount of food on the plate, however, the food was pretty good and authentic enough for a Chinese restaurant in suburb. Although, the hostess and servers were a little pushy and did not want to give us time to think what we wanted to order. They kept coming every three minutes and asked if we were ready. I sensed that this place is more like,.. order quick, eat quick, pay quick and leave right away. The server came to take the plates away before we were done. They were really quick to bring us the bill, but took a long time to come collect the money. Total amount was about $62 and we wanted to pay with $80 and leave a little tips. After waiting for a while, I asked a lady to get the money and bring us the change. She said she thought we were leaving all the money. Sorry, the service did not earn almost $20 tip. Since dinner food was fine, we went back for lunch. It was pretty bad. Huge amount of sauce but no much of the ingredient. The food did not taste good either. I suppose they do not put much of effort for lunch as the lunch foods are cheaper. I don't think we will go back again.

I've been going to Lao for well over a decade, back to there previous location in Westmont. It was always my go to for Chinese and I had lunch there along with dinner carry-outs at least 6 times a month. In 2015, after returning from snow-birding in FL, I was greatly disappointed in the quality of the food. I made 3 visits in 2015, all with a different lunch entree, and all 3 times revealed a definite drop in the level of preparation. Sauces were not the same and 1 dish (boiled beef) was so salty I only ate about a quarter of the serving. The beef was also a drop in quality. even the hot and sour soup was not very good. Today I returned for the first time in 2016 hoping they had reverted to their former level. Not to be...the boiled beef was so salty I sent it back after 3 bites. A 're-done' version proved slightly better, but by the 5th bite the saltiness was too much. Only thing better were egg rolls, but smaller than they used to be.
