As my second 3 michelin starred meal, I was in no way disappointed. The meal was fabulous, interesting, fun, and delicious. The only step up that Geranium (my other three stars) had, was that each and every dish at geranium had to be exactly where it was, in the exact amount that it was...here, the dishes aren't inherently Chicagoan, or... After seeing Alinea feature on Chef's Table and hearing about from some friends who spent time in Chicago, we knew we needed to try for a reservation. Fortunately we good one! Our experience here was incredible, however we felt that a couple of the dishes were a little off, namely the beef short rib which was overpowered by the pickled... More

Ever since I was a sophomore in college in Indiana, I've been wanted to come to the temple of gastronomy. It was before I knew of Micheline Stars. It was before I have ever had three Michelin star meals. Fast forward 5 years, we got the chance to visit Alinea. Yes we flew from New York for one meal. Because... More

Ah. The complex creature that is Alinea! The food is amazing: it's an eclectic mix of say, Thai curry with South Florida white fish, Nori with saffron aioli. Exquisite, unparalleled gastronomic experience. My photo of the banana taffy helium balloon is still making its round on Facebook five days later. My quarrel is with the service. It's rehearsed, cold, detached... More

I'll admit that $350-500 is a lot to pay for a meal but this is so much more than just dinner. Grant Achatz and his amazing sous chefs are geniuses, not just in preparation, but in one of a kind combinations of flavor, texture and presentation. The entire meal is flawlessly choreographed and the evening you spend there will rank... More

I believe this was my 3rd time at Alinea. My dinner companion had flown in from DC to try Alinea with me. While clearly a great restaurant, we weren't that impressed this time around. - Our table was under an A/C vent which made sitting there quite uncomfortable. - We ordered Champagne before dinner and were promptly given some house... There is no question that this is in a category of its own. It costs as much as a mortgage payment, but this isn't daily dining. This is once or twice in a lifetime or for a life event. It's incredible, ground-breaking, interesting, and delicious.

We came here for my brother's 30th birthday and it did not disappoint. We sat at the chef's table which was a whole added dimension. The experience was perfect from start to finish. Each dish was served with a unique presentation that fit the dish. Strongly recommend adding the drink pairing.
